The Secret Subversion of the Orthodox Church

Public Orthodoxy https://fordhamorthodoxy.org/a-review-of-distant-relatives-ancient-imagery-of-the-classical-pagan-past-and-modern-byzantine-icons/

For years now, Gail and I have been talking about the Deep State.

(As usual, Gail sharpened her pen and brilliantly analyzed the present situation.)

The Deep State is not solely dedicated to undermining the American Republic, although this is certainly something to which they aspire.

Nor are they a group content to subvert American culture, where they have largely been successful.

At it’s heart, the Deep State is a well-funded, multi-faceted attack on traditional values.

This movement has been accurately described as a complete reshuffling of norms, which represent a radical paradigm shift away from the tenets of the Faith whose very foundation is based on our Traditions.

Struggling to meet the bar, has been replaced by “come as you are.”

The new gospel being proclaimed elevates the individual over Christ who has been relegated to a one-dimensional deity where the only aspect of His person they recognize is His “loving nature” which they have exploited to mean anything you want it to mean.

It is with this in mind that we’d like you to view the following videos.  If you are a follower of this blog, none of this will be new, as we’ve touched on virtually every aspect of what is presented here, but these videos bear watching as they effectively bring together all the individual blows that have been inflicted upon the Church over the past few years in an effort homogenize the population.

In addition, they effectively demonstrate how organized these self-proclaimed “theologians” have become, where they are getting their funding, and which bishops among us support them, which begs the question, why are they our bishops?  In truth they are traders to the Faith and need to be called out one by one.

No longer do we need to talk around what is occurring.  We can prove it.  The salient in this war against all that is good and holy is a Deep Church, if you will, dedicated to undermining not just the traditions of the Orthodox Church, but to unseat Christ as its head, to be replaced by the “individual” in all it’s varied forms.

You can see it for yourself by clicking on these links.

Some time ago, I read “ John Courtney Murray, Time/Life, and the American Proposition: How the C.I.A.’s Doctrinal Warfare Program Changed the Catholic Church”.

It appears the CIA has turned its attention to our church now.

    • George Michalopulos says

Come, Lord Jesus. I’m not sure we can withstand the full might of the Deep State on our own. (Good Lord, what has happened to this once-great country?)

      • I hate to say it, George, but I think what has happened is the chickens have come home to roost. The foundations of our country, both religiously and governmentally, are mostly protestant. The very things that seemed to make our government work (separation of powers, federalism, rugged individualism, etc) come from the protestant mindset. “Be moral. Otherwise do what you want and leave each other alone.” Sounds good, but it laid the groundwork for idolatry and a polytheistic Christianity. At the same time, simple morality doesn’t change people and was bound to leave us empty and searching. It was also bound to alienate anyone who doubted and had a desire to not serve God at all. It’s been a slow, but steady progression, and it has certainly sped up in the last 70 years. Remember Christ’s story about the expelled spirit finding some friends to go back and inhabit the empty house? That’s what we’re seeing. We left the house empty and the enemy came right in.

      • Well, we have the SVR on our side. I’d rather have them than the Jesuits.

        even about some of this
        because my family’s archbishop….is Elpidophoros

  2. Wow. Painful to watch but brutally honest and all out on the table. Thank you.

No true Saint of the Church, from St John of San Francisco to St Herman of Alaska to St Basil the Great, would be associated with these people.

Thank you for publishing this. It seems that the lie that there is a way to approach God without the Cross remains quite prevalent, even within Orthodox Christian circles. What a diabolical lie.

The **only** way to approach God — whether one is a plumber, a teacher, a doctor, a seamstress, a bishop, a city mayor — the **only** way to approach God is through the Cross. There’s no getting around that Truth.

Not once during this entire video did anyone mention this Truth. It was all about “me,” “self worship,” “what the world (and the Church) owes me,” “I know more about sexuality than God,” etc etc. What drivel so many “academic Orthodox theologians” put forth. The fact that much of this passes as Christian Orthodoxy in the English-speaking world is embarrassing.

It also seems that there’s no shortage of Eastern Orthodox “academics” – and even bishops – eager to be liked and praised by western secular academia. How incredibly pathetic. And here I thought that our pathologically subservient need to be liked and to blend in with “the Episcopalian Joneses next door” died out with the 1980s.

Just as secular western wealth funded the Bolshevik takeover of Russia in 1917 — it’s well documented, someone had to pay for it, and the Bolsheviks had no money of their own! — the same secular western wealth is trying to fund the demise of Christian Orthodoxy in the West. Spoiler alert: you may fool some, but in the end, it won’t work.

Personally, I think this is one of the most powerful things we have ever published. Gail, myself –and everybody who reads these words–owes the producers a great deal of gratitude.

As for getting into the nitty-gritty, it was very well-made; it named names, pointed out who’s behind this evil program, ID’d the money, and ultimately, most importantly, used their own words against them. Powerful. A magnificent kill-shot.

      But wait! There’s more!

They corralled all these jokers into one corner so they can be better exposed, criticized and ridiculed. In doing so, the producers made it incredibly easy for the rest of us to expose them and take them down.

On another note, Archbishop LP is doubling down on his “progressivism”: https://www.goarch.org/-/interview-with-ta-nea-gr-english-translation-archbishop-elpidophoros-2022.

The guy’s an absolute walking-talking mass of contradictions.

  3. Steve Knowlton says

Well, the good news is that most of the people in this video do not and probably could not earn a living by getting Orthodox Christians to support all their academic work. They have to go elsewhere to make their living. Also, how is it these people all learn to speak that odd Academic jargon: “whiteness”, “community”, etc.

  4. I would also recommend “The LGBT Subversion of Western Orthodoxy,” as a good companion video. It provides some more evidence for some characters not covered as thoroughly in this video.

  5. George Michalopulos says

Thank you Cyril, for this wise prophecy from St Anatoly the Younger. I would like to draw attention to one particular paragraph:

“These threats will cause great despair among the fainthearted, but you, my son rejoice that you have lived until that time, for then the faithful who have not shown any other virtues, will receive crowns merely for standing firm in the faith, according to the word of the Lord (cf. St. Matthew 10:32).”

  6. “your thoughts are not MY thoughts, your ways are not MY ways, saith the LORD.”

  7. So many of us watched this same thing happen to the episcopal sect in almost identical fashion. first a trickle, then a stream, finally a tsunami which took over the entire institution.
as one commentator has described the process:
    1. Liberal requests “dialogue”.
    2. Conservatives agree.
    3. Using rhetorical strategies (“these are hard questions with no easy answers,” “we should lead with compassion,” etc), the liberal introduces heterodox concepts disguised by euphemisms.
    4. When conservatives wake up and realize what is going on, and object to it, the liberal denounces “divisiveness,” “disunity,” and “hurting the catholicity of the Church.”
    5. Once the liberals have an advantage in numbers within the institution, the dialogue ends, and what was once considered heretical or heresy-adjacent becomes dogmatized. The Holy Spirit has spoken on the matter, God is doing a new thing, etc.

    • George Michalopulos says

Fr, I believe it was Pastor Richard John Neuhaus who said something along these lines: “Once orthodoxy becomes optional, it becomes irrelevant.”

  8. Thank you for posting this! I have seen these same two articles all over Telegram and Instagram.

Having it “make the rounds” and be exposed is extremely important. If it flies under the radar they are able to be more cunning and subversive. Since they have been, and continue to be, exposed they will be watched heavily by the faithful.

Many of us have watched what has happened to our former sects, Roman Catholicism for me, and I’m sure we all have zero intention of seeing that happen to Orthodoxy.

TBH I never thought I would be so happy with the jurisdictional mess here in America. It’s almost an accidental safeguard against this.

These articles don’t make me despair, they make me, and hopefully everyone, want to fight like heck. Despair already gives victory to the enemy, we have the Truth and Christ on our side, but, if we chose to do nothing what do we expect, victory without a battle? There is a massive wave of converts coming into the Church, we have new bishops being appointed….perhaps this is the “new crew” in the Church.

We should pray that whoever replaces Met. Joseph is a stalwart of Orthodoxy. The OCA has made good appointments to the episcopate as of late.

    • George Michalopulos says

Petro, you hit the nail right on the head when you said that “the jurisdictional mess here in America…[is] almost an accidental safeguard against [this nonsense].”

      I quite agree.

  9. Joshia Watkins says

GOA can only hope to be a gateway for western religions for its ethnic flock, as the Holy Planet of America cannot tolerate your subversive soviet proclivities. You yourself proclaimed omonia, aka communitarianism of Plato, Confucius and John Rawls. If you come to America you are obligated to assimilate, not just linguistically, but religiously and culturally, and further to bring American values to your lands of origin, not the other way around. As Bobby Jindhal said, “immigration without assimilation is invasion”.

  10. Gail and George,
As sickening as it was to see these individual’s pervert Orthodox teachings, I too am encouraged that these issues and the people behind them are not able any longer to confine themselves within Academia.

The beauty of our Orthodox faith is how our Savior designed it to where the Holy Spirit works through the entire Church–clergy and laity–to keep us on the straight and narrow path of truth.

I found it rather interesting how many of their echo chamber symposiums had to be cancelled due to government reactions to Covid. Since they had to conduct their meetings online just as the government schools, perhaps this was God’s way of revealing this rot and sophistry propagated by this group!

    • Gail Sheppard says

The worst that can happen is what has happened for centuries. These outside entities will claim they have apostolic succession, separate from the Church, and call themselves Orthodox.

There are already “Orthodox” churches on every corner, each claiming they are the original deal. Of course, this doesn’t make it true. In the meantime, we will continue to do what we’ve always done.

On the upside, some of the people who meander into the Church as a result of self-proclaimed theologians pushing them through the door, will find themselves surrounded by the real Church and the culture, in comparison, will look like a cheap bauble next to the crown jewels.

At the end of the day, the culture cannot change the Church, though it will continue to try. It is the Church who has the power to do all the changing, one heart at a time.

  11. Lionel Mericranz says

The Deuteronomy-based Amphictyonic Republic if America was founded to get away from the caesaropapism of Rome, Besant and C(e)zars! This is why the Kennedies brought forth Vatican Two and Rerum Novarum and Biden needs to bring forth Vatican Three and Rerum Tertiorarum

  12. The following article and video reveals how the Marxists infiltrated the Catholic Church. Now the Communists in power are creating the Orthodox Christian Church of Liberalism. Actually, church is a dangerous place nowadays. Who is really the priest? Who is the real Orthodox Christian? Who gives you Communion? Who hears your Confession?

    Whom shall you trust?
Trust No One. Do NOT be naive’ in this day and time.
