Yes, that is actually the problem the liberals and Left face. Their vision is both cloudy and ugly. It has been tried repeatedly and failed repeatedly. They dare not say exactly where they want to go because it would repulse the vast majority of the electorate. We saw this movie before in the seventies with Carter. Nothing good down this road. Tax, spend, print money, stagflation, misery index, foreign policy disgrace (remember the Iranian Hostage Crisis?) – it’s the feeble, self-defeating ideology of liberalism and its sister, socialism. Talk about malaise.
Say what one will about Trump and Trumpistas but they offer a bold vision, inspiring to many. Capitalism is here to stay. Big government is also here to stay, but neither should be boundless. Efficiency and liberty are key.
There is actually hope on the horizon if we can get past the current conflict. Welfare capitalism is so productive that we should be moving into A.F.K. Organski’s age of abundance. Organski’s Stages of Political Development was a standard when I was studying poli sci in the eighties. He had the funniest line, dry humor, which caused me to laugh out loud when I read it. He was explaining why Nazi Germany was actually a welfare state much like FDR’s America in its economic organization. He wrote, “They were certainly aggressive in opening up new markets.”, or something to that effect.

We were asked whether we thought him to be a Marxist. I did not. But there is a solid track of development in his schema which could fit into either the capitalist or communist pigeonhole with enough grease. He saw the economic development of societies move from the basic old model of city-states, empires and mercantalist powers into the second stage, the industrial revolution, then into a third stage he called the national welfare state where a certain amount of redistribution was amalgamated into capitalism. Arguably, this national welfare state stage is socialism, or at least quasi-socialism in the sense of preserving the system of production through redistribution. His final stage was abundance or affluence. Communists might consider this actual, final communism. But capitalists can also envisage such a thing as an expression of the welfare state becoming so affluent that we adopt basic univeral income and technological advancements allowing an increase in the leisure time of the working public, not to mention work conditions.
It’s an often-repeated observation, but medieval serfs had more time to relax and enjoy their lives than we do today, and there was a much smaller wealth gap between land lords and serfs. Not even ancient kings and emperors raked in money like the Jeff Bezoses of our time, making more in an hour than their employees make in a whole year, or the Bill Gateses, who despite their (dubious) charity, have even more money than they started with.
When society was Christian (not Protestant—the Protestant work ethic enabled all this), the excesses of business were kept in check. The wealthy still lived under largely the same conditions as the peasants, and they used their wealth to the common good, building beautiful churches and public spaces. There were a large number of Church holy days of obligation (mandated worship and rest) in the Western Church. Big surprise, these days of obligation were reduced by more than three-quarters at the request of business interests during the industrial revolution—it is simply not practical to give people so much time off when they need to be producing! (In the US, there are only 5 or as few as 2 holy days of obligation, depending on the diocese.)
This is just another example of the Latin Church losing the culture war on behalf of us all.
Our Orthodox Typicon declares no fewer than 58 holy days of rest, besides Sundays. And to our shame, Orthodox Christians use the supposed looming threat of Latin legalism to excuse not treating these days as holy days of rest, as if enslaving oneself to human interests is an expression of freedom! Imagine having 2 months of paid vacation in which to worship God and enjoy life in its prime. (Rather than working yourself half to death for 40 years to save for retirement and then eking out the last tired years of life until you get cancer and die.)
To work hard, pray hard, and play hard is the way humans were meant to live; not the modern scraping out an existence in the service of billionaires. That disparity is modern and wrong. The corporatist boogeyman of “don’t take from the rich, because someday you might be rich” is a pipe dream of the same selfish spirit, sold as idealism that in reality keeps people in their place against their own interests.
AS, from your (accurate) perspective of the Middle Ages, I can see that we have lost a lot.
We can lay a lot of blame for this at the feet of Calvin. (Although I do not disagree with his dictum: “Make all you can, save all you can, give all you can.”)

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has announced that vaccinations against Covid-19 with mRNA formulations from Pfizer and Moderna could cause serious gynecological problems.
Compared to its announcement on Friday (11/2), EMA stated that it is examining reports of a possible relationship between mRNA vaccines with cessation of menstruation and heavy menstruation.
A Norwegian study last year showed that some women experience increased flow during their period after vaccination, but Coreper reported in December that no such relationship had been documented.
The question is why it is announced 14 months after the start of vaccinations and while millions of women have been vaccinated.
The Coreper Pharmacovigilance Committee will now review all available data, including patient and hospital reports, clinical trials and available literature.
Such gynecological problems can cause from sterilization to cancer.
Of course, to cover EMA, it states that it is not yet clear if there is a causal relationship with the vaccine and that there is no evidence that the vaccines affect fertility.
Is their conscience covered?

The reality is the death rate only soared the moment they began putting needles into arms in January 2021 You can believe it or not but I was one of the people picking up these poor souls and a huge amount of them.
Fast forward and now we see a huge increase in thrombosis related deaths exclusively in jab recipients.
Very interestingly recently I was admitted to ICU in Milton Keynes hospital after developing Covid symptoms.
I took three lateral flow tests whilst there and was told at the time I was not positive only to be told later on the ward I was positive so clearly it was inconclusive so I will say I felt and feel terrible still.
But fundamentally for me things to change very much in the hospitals and one of the very first people to visit me bedside was a representative from Oxford University funded by the Gates foundation begging me to trial new medicines (whilst being unable to look me in the eye) not even related to Covid – naturally I declined.
I was told I would die and these medicines would be my last chance, again I declined and stuck to my guns.
Trust me that’s not an easy thing to do laying there in a hospital ward on your own, unable to breathe easily and denied any family support or visits.
It is deliberate and it is done to break you. There seems to be more emphasis on encouraging me to be a guinea pig then actually treating me and I looked across at other people in the ward with sadness. They were all vaccinated without exception – in fact to my knowledge I was the only one in the ward unvaccinated – they will probably be all gone now… And I was reminded “how selfish I was” even in the ambulance on the way there I shit you not…. The Hospital environment has fundamentally changed beyond recognition for me, and whilst there were shadows and echoes of what it once was, it’s a very different place now and I suspect it is already being fully privatised we just haven’t been told.
The “food” was appalling and all tasted the same I’m not sure if this was due to Covid symptoms, but there was like a horrible oil over everything puddings & dinners. It took at least 3 or 4 days to get the taste out of my body, it was disgusting.
Moving forward, I suspect as people come down with Covid there will be greater and greater efforts made to target children especially in the new year with injections and I would urge you to take your children out of school rather than allow this to happen. When I attended a meeting in September I was told in no uncertain terms that up to 70% of these children would be sterilised as a side effect and there will be many that will die as a result of myocardia.
If given these injections many will die of myocardia if received and this I do no doubt will come to pass so please keep in mind what I have heard in this meeting and I have sat in front of Sir Graham Brady at Westminster.
I feel very fortunate to have escaped hospital (I never dreamt I would have lived to say that) with the help of family and friends.
I was initially sceptical about Covid but I can confirm it’s validity and it is very nasty.
But I can also tell you it is 100% man-made this is not a natural virus and this is an attack on all of us – it’s a bio weapon. My advice to you moving forward is network, prepare and under all circumstances try to avoid going into hospital because I suspect many of the poor souls I saw in there will never ever leave having become test tubes for the gates foundation.

Horrible story! I had no idea he had been in the hospital. Did you see his pictures? Unbelievable. People with some kind of white sinewy material coming out of blood clots in their legs.
You know, for months they wouldn’t do any autopsies on these bodies. But as he said, they still have to be watched and dressed by the funeral directors.
