What Met. Onuphry & Jeremiah Denton Have in Common

R Adm Jeremiah Andrew Denton, Jr, the man who used morse code to blink “TORTURE” while a POW at the “Hanoi Hilton.”

Our dear Joseph recently submitted a comment that said:  “. . . Absolutely no welcome has been given to the Russian Army by Metropolitan Onuphry, and he has not asked them to come and fight against “Western Liberal ideology” either. No, quite the opposite. Metropolitan Onuphry has condemned the Russian invasion from day one.

He has personally pleaded, with President Vladimir Putin to stop the war:  “’Defending the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine, we appeal to the President of Russia and ask to immediately stop the fratricidal war. The Ukrainian and Russian peoples came out of the Dnieper baptismal font, and the war between these peoples is a repetition of the sin of Cain, who, out of envy, killed his own brother,’ said the Primate of the UOC.”

Per Joseph, Metropolitan Onuphry also said,  “. . . what we are witnessing now, at least from the point of view of Metropolitan Onuphry, is an Unholy Russia. According to him, it is a Russia guilty of the “sin of Cain.”  [End]

Yeah, that’s not true.  

What he actually said was this: “Defending the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine, we appeal to the President of Russia and ask to immediately stop the fratricidal war.  The Ukrainian and Russian peoples came out of the Dnieper baptismal font, and the war between these peoples is a repetition of the sin of Cain, who, out of envy, killed his own brother.  I call on everyone to common sense, which teaches us to solve our earthly problems in mutual dialogue and mutual understanding, and I sincerely hope that God will forgive us our sins and the peace of God will reign in our land and around the world!”  

Let’s analyze this.

If you call on someone to “stop the fratricidal war,” that doesn’t mean the person you’re talking to started it.  The Nazis, nationalists, oligarchs, politicians, Rada, EP, U.S., and NATO started it.  We could stop the war if we quit feeding it, but our power has been taken from us.  The American people are hostages in this war, too.   

When he said, “the war between these peoples is a repetition of the sin of Cain,” he is talking about both Ukraine and Russia.

When he, “calls on everyone” he is referring to EVERYONE not just Russia.

In, “forgive us our sins?”  Us and our are plural on purpose.  He means all of us.

When Metropolitan Onuphry speaks, remember the context.  Of course, he has given no welcome to Russian soldiers!  Like a POW, he is surrounded by the enemy.  But I’ve got to tell you, he’s handled this beautifully.  Grace under pressure personified.

With respect to the “sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine,“ he bolstered the decision of the UOC Council of the Church to declare “full independence and autonomy” for Ukraine because the UOC has to separate from everything Russian just to stay alive.

It is also true the Russian Church has to feign displeasure to keep all options open until this insanity is over.  Until then, it would be a mistake to take what either side says too seriously.  It is my guess that every eventuality has been discussed and they’re all just going through the motions until the situation changes.  

The Russian Church has openly stated they believe the Ukrainian government and the “extremist part of the Ukrainians” are allegedly pressuring the Ukrainian Church.  I have no doubt this is the case.  Just like Jeremiah Andrew Denton Jr., Met. Onuphry is saying what he needs to say to keep the UOC alive in captivity, all the while blinking “TORTURE.”  

It’s got to be torture to be in Ukraine right now if you’re part of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

When all is said and done, the Church will do what’s in the best interest of the Ukrainian people.  I really believe that.  Even the EP won’t be able to stop it.    

George and I, personally, pray that the Russian Church continues to assert itself over the situation long enough to bring over those in the OCU who have had enough of this nonsense.  The clergy who repent can be forgiven, ordained, or whatever needs to happen to make them canonical.  Only Russia can give them that legitimacy because the founders of the OCU were originally deposed by Russia and as far as I know, have remained un-ordained. 

The Church will need Russia’s help to rebuild which I believe Russia will do.  Once all are united under Metropolitan Onuphry, I think it would absolutely make sense to talk about an autocephalous Church in Ukraine to protect them from poachers in the future.

Please don’t overlook the EP’s role in all this.  His insistence to go into Ukraine, against the advice of all his brother bishops, played a pivotal role in setting this war into motion.  Ukraine, Russia, and the canonical Church have greatly suffered as a result.  Many lives have been lost and none of this would have happened without his help.

He knows what he did.

But like that old commercial for Motel 6, if he wants to repent and return to the fold, “We’ll leave the lights on for him.”

At some point, the world is going to have to acknowledge it’s been lied to.  Russia didn’t start this war. 

Way back in 2014, George and I began reporting the outright lies of the West about Russia.  Later, we reported the money Congress was sending to Ukraine to train their military and buy them equipment.  

Seriously, go back and look.

I’ve listed our earliest posts, but there were many, many more.  We could see where this was headed.  We also said this particular war would have world wide implications.  

We’re not tooting our horn here.  We’re trying to get you to see that it was the West who started this war and it is the West who is feeding it.  At our expense, I might add.  Did you ever wake up one day and say to yourself, “I want to spend all the money I have on a war in a country I probably can’t find on a map?”  

I’m pretty sure none of us did.

We certainly didn’t wake up one morning and say, “I hope Bartholomew goes into Russia’s territory and causes a schism.”  Just because no one is saying the word “schism” out loud doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.  

There was no Russian “invasion.”  Russia was pushed into it.  The American people were pushed into it!  The Pentagon had 30+ biolabs over there!  There were credible reports that they had infected birds with genetic-specific pathogens that targeted the Slavs.  They put them in drones and planes and dropped them over Russia.

Then there was the Fourth Reich that seemingly came out of nowhere to take over the Orthodox Church.  This is not a conspiracy theory.  “Patriarch” Philaret (a disgraceful charlatan and deposed bishop) is quoted as saying that: “Due to the existence of the UOC (Kiev Patriarchate), and other patriotically-minded Christian churches, we have today an independent state. And if we have only one Ukrainian Orthodox Church, then Russia will not have any access to Ukraine. And then our state will establish and strengthen itself and will be a fortress of peace in Eastern Ukraine.”  https://orthochristian.com/116903.html
