Glass Houses, Stones, You Know the Drill

Today, we are operating under two moral panics. The first one deals with the fictitious “Red Scare”, i.e. the idea that the Russians “hacked” the election. It’s ironic that while there is no evidence of Russian involvement in Wikileaks and its sequelae, Russian involvement in our politics has been proven –although not to the Democrat’s interests. If anything, it appears at present that it’s the Democrats –and more specifically the Clintons–who have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Uraniam One specifically, is turning out to be a whale of a scandal.

More on this will come out in due time.

Presently, there is a second, more ominous, moral panic stalking the land. Specifically, a moral panic associated with sexual assault implicating very highly-placed people.

This second panic started with the exposure of Harvey Weinstein and has now spread throughout Hollywood, the Corporate Media and of course politics. The list of names grows by the day: Kevin Spacey, George Takei, Mark Halperin, Sylvester Stallone, Uncle Joe Biden and Bush 41, et al are only the tip of the iceberg. (And who can ever forget the Mack Daddy of them all –Slick Willie?) To this we now can add the name of Judge Roy Moore, presently the Republican candidate for the vacant senatorial seat in Alabama.

Moore’s actions –if true–are reprehensible. The problem is that there’s very little proof of them, and the evidence that has so far surfaced is highly questionable. To my mind, it’s up to the good people of Alabama to decide. State’s rights and all that. (Although we wouldn’t be having this problem if there had been no Seventeenth Amendment, but that’s a story for another day.)

If Moore is elected then there may be a Constitutional crisis in the Senate but that’d only be the start of it. Instead, what will be unleashed is a catharsis. Of this I’m sure. And to this I can only say “bring it on”.

What do I mean? Permit me to explain. On my Facebook page, there’s been a piling on of Moore. That’s understandable. I replied however from the very start of this scandal thusly: are you all sure you want to go down this road? Why would I ask that? To come to Moore’s defense? No; I asked that because we live in a highly sexualized world. I merely pointed out in that venue that hardly anybody today would survive the scrutiny that has been visited on Moore.

This has now been proven, almost daily, in spades. Don’t believe me? Just look at this picture of Chris Smalley (I mean Sen Al Franken, D-MN). The problem is not sexual predation but immorality, pure and simple. Because let’s face it, we are dealing with gradations here.

Franken is clearly an oaf. Always has been, always will be. But what we are talking about here not Franken’s sophomoric hi-jinks but sexuality run amock. One person took me to task by saying that what Franken did was not as bad as what Moore has been accused of doing. Do we really want to go down this road I asked? That’s like saying Jack the Ripper was not as bad a murderer as Ted Bundy. OK, I’ll give you that but we’re talking gradations here. Roy Moore shouldn’t have dated a 16 year old girl but Al Franken shouldn’t have played tonsil-hockey with Lee Ann Tweeden.

And it’s not just men. I follow a blog called Instapundit. (It’s really good and I highly recommend it. It’s where I find a lot of material for my stories.) Anyway, not a day goes by that it doesn’t report a story about some female teacher raping some young boy. Sometimes it’s more than one and some are as young as eleven. As for our esteemed Congresswomen, are they all as pure as the wind-driven snow? Sen Dianne Feinstein has been married three times. Was she innocent in all of her divorces? There’s a high-ranking Republican Congressman who is always seen in the company of a Republican Congresswoman. Both are married, just not to each other.

Now, please understand, I’m not trying to excuse the behavior of men by pointing out the actions of some powerful women. Men as a rule are far more predatory than women, that’s a fact. That’s a given. Humorously, one respondent said that perhaps only eunuchs be allowed to run for public office. But that’s not going to happen, is it? What I am saying is that the maelstrom of abuse that has been heaped upon Moore is not going to be the end of the game. Not in this licentious culture. The genie of unchastity has escaped from the magic lamp and it’s not going back in. Not unless we go back to a time, say pre-1960, when there was a regime of sexual segregation and chastity was prized.

But do we really want to do that? A neighbor of mine from long ago was a professor in college. He married one of his students. They seem awfully happy to me. I work in the medical field, doctors date and marry nurses (and now each other) all the live-long day. Is there not (as the cultural Marxists say) a power differential here? Of course their is. So what is to be done? Do you really believe as some feminists do that all sex is rape, even when sex that occurs in marriage? They honestly believe that. This is preposterous but at least they have an internal logic that is consistent with their insane worldview.

So what is to be done? Well, for starters, we could turn back the clock, to the days before Mad Men. I certainly wouldn’t mind. But it’s not going to happen. There’s too much water that has passed under that bridge.

And of course it’s made worse now because of the normalization of homosexuality. I have a sneaking feeling that many homosexuals in positions of authority right now are quaking in their boots. Remember Milo Yiannopoulos? I do. I actually came to his defense, not because I’m sympathetic to sodomy (which I’m not) but because what he described is normative to that perverse lifestyle. We can’t really blame them, can we? After all, once the time-honored moral restraints were removed from heterosexuals and promiscuity was normalized, once women were viewed as sexual objects rather than as potential wives and mothers, then it was only a matter of time before this same “anything goes” regime would extend to homosexuals.

The only thing I tried to point out to my Facebook correspondents is that human beings are sinners. All of us. Myself included. I dare say most everybody who follows this blog is also guilty of some transgression. In a more civilized society, one in which chastity was the rule and men and women lived in their own worlds, we wouldn’t be seeing the plethora of accusations that is being served up almost daily. Let me be blunt: I am talking about a world in which men took responsibility for their women and women weren’t forced to enter the world of men; in such a regime our pheromones would be kept in check. In that world I dare say, there’d be far fewer chances for such boorish behavior. And whenever someone was exposed, most of us would avert our eyes, not because of “the patriarchy” but because mature people would understand that “there but for the grace of God, go I”.

The left couldn’t see this coming. That’s because God –like human nature–is dead to them. On the other hand, civilized people who try to adhere to biblical morality could see this coming from a mile away. I know I did and mentioned it from Day One of the Moore scandal.

Unfortunately, in the short term, the left will take the wrong course of action. They will strive to create more laws and more R & Rs to restrain sexual impulsivity. Feminists in particular will rejoice at the rash of laws that will be enacted (as will lawyers). And it will fail miserably.

Why? Because there’s this thing called human nature. The Jacobins tried to eradicate it in 1789 in France and later the Bolsheviks tried to do the same in Russia in 1918. It didn’t work for them and it won’t work for the nanny-staters. But they won’t admit that so they’ll double down on their idiocy.

So, sit back, grab a beer and some popcorn, and enjoy the show. It’s gonna be entertaining to say the least.

  1. George, I will say what no one wants to say. A portion of these woman are liars.Revenge, money, and for forgotten or never known actors the old spotlight. I’ve seen it many times directly and indirectly. I’ve had Federal agents question me and threaten with arrest because my best friends girlfriend wanted revenge when he broke off the relation, and accused him of kidnapping her over the border into Mexico against her will.(I was driving the car) I too was threaten by a woman in a bad relationship as well, she never followed through with her false accusation and threats but none the less many do, and many men are falsely booked and will have a stain on their record, simply because they see no future in a relationship. My best friends girl friend was very violent and my friend had a hard time explaining to the police she was the the aggressor not him. Turns out, she had a mental disorder, but how do cops know that. Anyway nothing worse than a woman scorn, mentally healthy or not. Many know they have the advantage in that department and abuse it to get money or revenge. Old cliche, twenty percent screw things up for the eighty percent majority. Not to defend either side, but common sense would never allow ourselves to be alone in hotel rooms with strangers? Now or even a hundred years ago not a good idea. This wlll protect the accused and accusers. Soon men will speak to female co workers with only yes or no comments. Exactly what the leftist feminist want, to silence men, and power women in the wrong way.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, wit out self control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid such people!-Timothy 3:1-5

  2. Well George, you’ve got two issues there, Russia and the sexual harassment outing binge we’re currently on. Yes, it’s all connected and it is no coincidence.

The New Red Scare is fascinating to me. Old images of Soviet behavior rehashed to impune Orthodox Christian mixed market capitalists. The confusion of totalitarian atheism and authoritarian dominant party “sovereign democracy” is just par for the course. There is no honesty in this Red Scare or behind it. Pure, willful, weaponized propaganda from the morning shows to the evening news, pundits, editorial pages and beyond.

It is safe to say that Vladimir Putin was upset by the fact that the United States organized a coup d’etat in the Ukraine, right on Russia’s front door, and made it no secret that they sought regime change in Moscow as well. This was after the Russo-Georgian War where McCain, et al., convinced Mikhail Saakashvili to bomb civilians and peacekeepers in two autonomous provinces of Georgia that never really agreed to become part of that nation state when the USSR dissolved. That was South Ossetia and Abkhazia. “Where”, one might legitimately ask, “is North Ossetia?” Well in the Russian Federation, of course. Arbitrarily drawn borders are inherently unstable.

So Vlad waxes the Georgians and the Ukrainians and supports a little autonomous region in Eastern Ukraine (Novorossia), turning it into a frozen conflict, and annexes the Crimea, which had traditionally belonged to Russia and was simply gifted to the Ukrainian SSR by Khrushshev when the gift was no gift at all inasmuch as it was all one political unit. Last count 96 percent of Crimeans, all but the miniscule Tatar population, wanted to be part of Russia since the economy is totally dependent on Russian military and tourism.

So, being an intelligent leader of a powerful world power, Vlad shares his pissedness with the United States by throwing a monkey wrench in the American presidential election in the form of a propaganda, cyber war strategy.

All is fair in love an war. No machines were tampered. There were no Manchurian candidates. It was all of a piece with what is done in Eastern Europe by the Russians to insure that they have an non-militarized buffer zone on their border. Whatever efforts at persuasion were made, it did not “interfere” with the US election. Any power is entitled to project their perspective by whatever means are available. It is really poor form to cry foul.

So why is all of this happening? It is very simply, but you have to have a program to identify the players.

There are three – and only three – phronemas currently vying for world dominance:

    Secular Humanism
    Orthodox Christianity
    Islam

Phronemas are intensely personal matters. This is the mindset of a person that defines their sanity – the way that they trust at the deepest level that Reality works.

Feminist Secular Humanists (and probably their more masculine counterparts in China), desperately want to believe that their phronema (i.e., mindset/worldview) is the end-stage of mankind. The problem is that both Nature and Nature’s God do not agree and are not at all amused by Secular Humanism (which is really just a crude, dispirited form of materialism). So, for instance, Secular Humanists (hereinafter “SH’s”) fight tooth and nail to suppress religion in the public square in American when it goes against the moral and cultural instincts of most Americans to do so. SH’s try to impose the natural end results of the gender feminist thesis and organize a society wherein women have all the power they need to be safe from the slightest inconvenience presented by men. This directly contradicts the patriarchal paradigm of Christianity and all of Western and Christian culture up to the 20th century.

Russians, of course, have seen all this garbage before. The bloodier preview was inflicted upon them by militant atheists throughout the twentieth century and they want nothing more to do with it. Even the Bolsheviks, of course, did not stoop so low as the LGBT movement.

“So what, pray tell, does this all have to do with sexual harassment?”, one might ask. Sexual harassment is not an issue in a patriarchal society because women are much less likely to be out in the workplace than at home making and raising babies. Divorce rates in America, for instance, were quite low at the beginning of the twentieth century. Only a very small percentage (about 3%) of marriages ended in divorce – and this in a Protestant dominated country. This gradually rose to stabilize in the mid-upper teens by the 1930’s.

    http://divorce.lovetoknow.com/Historical_Divorce_Rate_Statistics

But the real increase came with the Second World War when women emerged into the workplace in force due to the demands of full mobilization. As this newfound “freedom” expanded, divorce rates kept rising and the introduction of “no-fault” divorce around 1967 caused a doubling of the rate.

    https://books.google.com/books?id=ph1UKg3y0NUC&pg=PA78&lpg=PA78&dq=Divorce+statistics+in+America+1900-2000&source=bl&ots=Br1ijGC-ua&sig=PQCfSIsBWuyINv5oZgVm4oFoyc8&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjtv8DHk8bXAhUF4SYKHbK_DsUQ6AEIVzAM#v=onepage&q=Divorce%20statistics%20in%20America%201900-2000&f=false

As it stands now, at least 4 out of 10 marriages in the United States will end in divorce. However. that is not the worst of it. Aid to families with dependent children, usually single parent “families” headed by a female, ensures that a feminist, matriarchal cycle of poverty persists on a generational basis.

Simply put, America is a failed state. And the lion’s share of the failure can be laid at the foot of the Goddess of Feminism.

So when you see all these claims of sexual harassment and “inappropriate” behavior coming in waves out of the woodwork, you should not be surprised in the least if you are an Orthodox Christian. Gaia is making her displeasure known and insisting on recognition and continued legitimization in the face of a wave of “populism”; i.e., anti-PC backlash. It is a massive “acting out” on par with other mass hysterias:

    http://www.viralnova.com/mass-hysteria/

It is a fascinating time to be alive, no?

PS: Masha Gessen of the New Yorker is a prime example of what is wrong:

    https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/when-does-a-watershed-become-a-sex-panic

    • Good post Misha, The New Yorker link is appreciated. Remember Trump said that when a man is rich and famous, that women, LET THEM DO ANYTHING! Rich and famous men do whatever they want in general, so when a good number women throw themselves at these wolfs, why are they so shocked! Please don’t tell me they are all innocent and naive. All was OK when they thought they were “Friends” or might get something out of the arrangement/encounter, but when discarded, shock and awe, followed by revenge, and/or pay up, or I won’t shut up behavior. OR WORSE, The accusers will come at you with Feminist Saint Gloria Allred. Ironically, her daughter first represented Weinstein, to protect her business interests with his company, but when the frenzy exploded, she backed out quick, a true sell out, like most libs. So, now that’s it’s cool and hip to come out of the rape closet, a new American craze has begun. Or, it seems many women are having buyers remorse. Didn’t get what they wanted from the allowed grabs, so now they are going class action law-suit, sort of speak. Are there victims? Of course there are, but now truth be damned, there’s money to be made. The true victims don’t really matter in this frenzy, they will be watered down by the many of these woman, who are, are liars, distorters of the truth, fame seekers, sympathy seekers, high end prostitutes, and money grabbing pigs! This is America at it’s worst! Interesting times indeed Misha, and quite disgusting, if you ask me. I miss the good old days of, Pet Rocks, Elmo, and Beanie Baby crazed frenzies!

      • The unnatural tension that the feminist matriarchy creates as it is enforced cannot last very long. Society will have to revert to something approaching the patriarchal norm beginning at some point. Probably the Trump thing is the beginning of that process. It is difficult for me to envision how the genie will be re-bottled though without a violent revolution or social collapse.

The only thing that could accomplish this change would be if the “populist” (i.e., Rightist) wave that we have been seeing in Western Europe and America is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope that is the case and that all faith is lost in Secular Humanism as quickly as possible. I would rather have the majority of people running around depressed and despondent rather than militantly anti-Christian.

        Time will tell.

        • Gail Sheppard says

Or men could start being men. Little girls still dream of growing up, marrying a prince and living happily ever after. Just ask Disney. That might work, right?

I don’t know one woman who has married well that has any interest in boardrooms. It’s the women who have been disappointed that end up there.

          • Michael Bauman says

Yes Gail, agreed but one cannot discount the poison of feminism either. Forty years ago I heard Gloria Steinem speak. It was a vulgar profanity laden diatribe on how women needed to be just as predatory in the use of power as men and take our places. As a reward, we men would be put out to stud and have all the sex we wanted.

Of course it was not that direct but not all that far from being that direct.

Now there are the “all sex is rape” and “toxic masculinity” folks who just want to castrate us. Interestingly enough, some of these folks do lure stupid lacivious men into situations where they can accuse them of rape and destroy their lives. Shoot, now they just have to accuse a man of something forty years ago. Many of those accusations are no doubt true to all men’s shame.

But, a “feminist” writer just this week opined that false allegations were necessary in order to destroy patriarchy and the oppression of women. She writes for Teen Vogue BTW.

Misha is wrong, but he has a point. The knives are out. Dino sees it too.

The remedy is for Christian men to be Christian men. Few others will survive the blood letting.

          • Gail,

Alas, the law does not allow “men to be men”. We’re illegal.

A real man is the undisputed head of his household. He directs everyone in it. That is forbidden by American law. As is any physical correction of the wife, though the little darlings can still be spanked. After all, mommy can do that.

The only reason American men don’t lead American women … is that beta males and feminists have gathered at law to forbid it. And the military and police back them up. Women alone could never have done so. They’re too weak.

But that anomaly ain’t gonna last forever.

Really, the one and only problem is that men do not collectively realize the power they have to live the way they are entitled to. As they become increasingly aware of it, all the other horseshit will wear off.

            • Michael Bauman says

Misha, a real man does not need to correct his wife physically. That is wrong both in law and in a Christian heart.

              • George Michalopulos says

                Agreed

                • George Michalopulos says

Saunca, I believe that he had (repented of concubinage). Memo to Misha: chastity is the rule for men, not polygyny. End of story.

As for women being “weaker”, well that comes from St Peter himself, who called women the “weaker vessel”.

That doesn’t mean that they’re inferior only physically weaker and thus prone to being more easily under a man’s malign influences. I hardly think that that proposition is arguable. Consider prostitution or pornography (which is essentially the same thing), do women get into that willingly on their own or are they coerced into it by the men in their lives?

            • Tim R. Mortiss says

              Must…not…reply…to….nonsense….

Oh well. We were married 50 years last May; we started at age 19. I have never raised a hand to my wife, and I have been undisputed head of the household.

My mom and dad were married 53 years when she died. He never raised a hand to her. He was definitely the head of the household. So also with my in-laws.

Same with my grandparents on both sides— and they were born in the late 1800s….

I was thinking; is this because we were cool-blooded Northern Europeans? But no; my wife’s maternal grandparents (whom I knew well) were both born in Croatia. They had a happy long marriage too, with no “physical correction”.

We are surrounded by friends in the same boat. What world are you from, Misha?

    The accused will be punished.

Some people seem to be living in a parallel universe. Make of that whatever you wish and whatever serves your purpose.

    • George Michalopulos says

Alithea, I will say this: that when it comes to the political discourse the modern left and right are talking past each other. However, you seem to be a Christian who has a level head.

In this spirit I will ask you a simple question. (First I will grant your characterization of Pres Trump for the sake of argument.) What would you have a pro-life Christian do in the 2016 election? Or for those conservatives who believe in the 2nd Amendment? Which candidate –both of whom as you say are manifestly unqualified”?

Under Trump, the 2nd Amendment is stronger than ever and Planned Parenthood is being defunded. The purist option –voting for a write-in candidate–is, and has always been, a weasel-way out of having to exercise responsibility.

As I see it, America was well on its way to being a Third-world kleptocracy, like the Philippines or Greece, where the people have the right to vote for one of two dynastic families –Bush or Clinton. For all of Trump’s supposed oafishness, conservatives (and by that I mean nationalists, not cuckservatives) had a real option, the first time since Reagan in 1980 (and he was forced to accept Groper Bush as his VEEP, thereby setting in motion the 28 lost years of Bush-Clinton-Obama.
