USA Went to DEFCON 2

. . . along with Africa, Middle East, Cyber, Europe, and South America.

DEFCON 2, or Fast Pace, is a red colored condition level similar to a ‘red alert’ warning level status. Defcon 2 means we are at the next step to war or a nuclear threat. During this alert level the United States Armed Forces are ready and prepared to ship out in 6 hours time or less, hence the name “Fast Pace.”

Defcon 2, or Fast Pace, is the second highest condition level in the warning system, with only alert level 1 being higher. The alert status may be changed to this level after intelligence findings indicate a risk for an impending attack, such as the case in the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 when the alert status was changed to Fast Pace for the Strategic Air Command.

Defcon 2, or Fast Pace has been reached only once for the SAC, or strategic air command during the cold war Cuban missile crisis in October 26, 1962 after soviet missile pads were found in Cuba, but changed to alert level 3 after a short time. Taken from Defcon Level Warning System: https://www.defconlevel.com/levels/defcon-2.php

Though each of the combatant command regions are at 2, the overall OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) Alert Status is still 3.

They explain:  “The current overall Defcon level OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) estimate is now Defcon level 3. After assessing the situation with Russia and their forces being set to a higher nuclear deterrence level, we have set our overall alert level back to three for the time being. Confused about what we do? Read the FAQ on our About Page.

We don’t believe the current situation warrants a two quite yet. Russian President Vladimir Putin has now ordered Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on alert in response to Western sanctions and rising tensions over Putin’s invasion on Ukraine.

If the current defcon level changes from the level it is at now, it will be reflected on the alert status above as well as in any of the Regional News Pages, where you will also find the current defcon level alert status for each combatant command region and up to date news and news ticker for each region.

Something Trump said in passing, I think it was at a CPAC meeting as he was exiting the stage. He said these in phrases; not completely sentences.

“It had to be this way.” (He said it twice.)

Also, in regard to a nuclear engagement, he said something to the effect, “It may come to that. I don’t know. And some people will even believe it.”

I got the feeling he was saying it wouldn’t happen. But people need to think it will happen, because it could. Some have called it a “near death experience” like the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Interesting that in my life time I have come this close to a nuclear war twice.

    That’s twice too many.

  2. I’m confused. The DEFCOM website itself says that the U.S. is not at Defcon 2.
Where did you get your information from?

  3. It’s at 3. It’s the overall that matters. No one else is reporting 2 or any change. Three is bad enough. We were only at three for a few days after 9/11. If there were some large engagement of NATO with Russian forces, they might raise it.

    • It was at two for a short duration.

    • Gail Sheppard says

You’re mistaken, my friend. Please look at these links before you pass on bad information. It is NOT true that “no one is reporting 2 or any change.” As of 2-5-2023 | 3:16 am UTC Taken from Defcon Level Warning System: https://www.defconlevel.com/indo-pacific-command-news.ph

Only “open source intelligence” says it’s a 3. And you believe THEM?!

      • I saw they were all at 2. I can read. What I meant is that no other news outlet is reporting a change in defcon. Search defcon change in news and you won’t find any headlines.

OSINT only guesses at all of these as far as I can tell.

        • Gail Sheppard says

For those who don’t know, OSINT is defined in the United States of America by Public Law 109-163 as cited by both the U.S. Director of National Intelligence and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), as intelligence “produced from publicly available information that is collected, exploited, and disseminated in a timely manner to an appropriate audience for the purpose of addressing a specific intelligence requirement.

Even the military uses OSINT. https://www.armyupress.army.mil/Journals/Military-Review/English-Edition-Archives/January-February-2021/Rasak-Open-Source-Intelligence/

The site includes open source ‘crowd sourcing’ of the intelligence community with members from all over the world, including many ex military, professional intelligence and data analysts, computer scientists, forensic experts and people on the ground in various conflict hotspots worldwide. – Outside of the MSM, pretty much everything is “privately funded” these days so I’m not sure why that would make anything less true.

This site actually talks about whether or not they’re just “guessing.” This is what they say in response: “A ‘guess’ is a casual or spontaneous conclusion. An ‘estimate’ is based on thought and/or data. What we do is collect large amounts of data and put forth an estimate of what our intel community believes it should be based on all of the open source (OSINT) intelligence and data we’ve collected from all over the world and our analysis of that data. The live alerts are in no way trying to guess the government alert status, it is a separate assessment based on data that we have. Taken from Defcon Level Warning System: https://www.defconlevel.com/about.php

It’s fine if the information doesn’t interest someone, but it shouldn’t be dismissed. If they say we’re at DEFCON 2 in the Command Regions, it’s probably true and it more than lines up with the headlines. Just looking at the last two months of activity tells you that. https://www.defconlevel.com/northern-command-news.php

They’ve been around for a decade. Not some fly-by-night operation. If they were, I suspect the military would have shut them down for the same reason they don’t discuss DEFCONs publicly.

But then where would they get their information?!

          • If the military had announced a change upward in defcon, the legacy media would be all over it. They’ve stoked the myth that Russia is threatening nuclear war almost sine the Ukraine war began. It fits their narrative.

These are all OSINT. The military normally doesn’t publicly announce the level. Look at their About page above. These are private organizations reading public records and guessing at the defcon level.

        • Gail Sheppard says

So you thought I was saying I got the information from the Department of Defense? Never said that. They don’t EVER discuss this publicly. I put the links where I got the information.

So, if you didn’t use my source when you told everyone it was at Level 3, which source were YOU using?

  5. Valentine from Fang Fang, Xi Zeppelin, . . . I’m working on names for It: High spy . . . Manchurian eye . . . Egg drop snoop . . .

  6. True. US went Defcon 2. What’s next?

    • Gail Sheppard says

What’s next? In our day, they used to call it “duck and cover!”

      • Yup, I agree! Our territorial integrity has been compromised. Lots more coming.

      • Or put your head between your knees and kiss your fanny goodbye!

        • Gail Sheppard says

I never heard that one, but, well, you know, it was in the 60s.

        • Look, defcon.com is reporting this. That is a private estimate, not govt/military information. I don’t dispute they may have raised their assessment to 2 and then back down to 3 over the last few days but that has nothing to do with the govt/military.

My point is that we don’t know if the military raised it and would not know until sometime after it is all over. That has been the pattern of announcing changes in the past.

Now, the fact that no other news outlet is playing this harp indicates to me that there hasn’t been a peep from the military or the Regime on the subject. If there were, it would be all over every chanel and online outlet because it sells papers and subscriptions and ads and it fits their narrative re Russia.

Moreover, any announced raising would be theater as well. Russia has made it clear it has no first strike intention nor has it given the impression it is preparing such an attack. The Pentagon would never telegraph it’s intentions if it intended a first strike, it would just quietly do so.

So . . . There’s nothing to worry about regardless of what a private firm is saying about regional readiness standards. What should cause concern is the potential for direct conflict between US forces and Russian forces.

But even that would not inevitably lead to a nuclear exchange, assuming a healthy instinct for self preservation on our side.

Now, lose your heads if u want to, but it’s premature.

          • Gail Sheppard says

It’s not premature to be prepare for an eventuality that many have known is coming, i.e. to err on the side of caution and prepare for a disruption. The military WOULD NOT be saying anything publicly because nothing has happened yet. This website could, however, be used as a way to warn people to prepare (not to panic).

The military did something similar in WWII when Allied bombers dropped leaflets warning of impending bombing of a city as a warning. Some got out.

The military is NOT unaware of this website! They FEED this website. Of course they would use it! And some will see it for what it is. A warning to prepare. Nothing more. Nothing less.

      • Hi, I’ve been reading this thread and I read your article. I also followed the info. From “Survivalist Living” UTUBE channel who I first learned this from. So like Jane, I too want to know ..is there anything we should do right now? To protect our families etc. Besides being stocked up with food ,water, preps etc. ( Well I don’t have gas masks or an underground bunker), so what else can we do?

        • Gail Sheppard says

I honestly don’t think anything catastrophic is going to happen. But it’s important that people start waking up and seeing who and what brought us to this point so it doesn’t happen again.

You already said it: Stock up on food. Rice and beans are cheap and full of protein. Get some of those huge water jugs. Keep your gas tank full. (Do you hear me, George?) Put shoes and water in your trunk.

George tells me if there is a state and/or federal emergency, the pharmacies will fill your meds. But keep them as up to date as possible.

Be prepared for some interruption to your daily life not because there is going to be a nuclear war but because some powerful people are going down and there will probably be riots and who knows what going on in the streets.

Communication may be cut for a while, as the bad guys use it, too, and without it they’ll go down a little faster.

Expect to see the National Guard. They’ll want everyone inside until order is maintained.

I have no intention of looking for a bunker or getting a gas mask. But I would make sure the school my kids go to have a plan to keep my kids safe until I could get to them. One of the things I did for my daughter when she was little is write her a little note. I put it in a baggy with some treats she liked and a picture of her dad, her brother, and me. I reminded her of how much we loved her and not to be afraid because we would be there to pick her up when it was safe.

All the kids took these same little care packages to school and their teachers kept them until the end of the year. We made new little care packages when they returned in the fall. This really came in handy when 911 happened and they were all ushered into the basement for an indefinite period of time.

My daughter is now an adult. I called her a few days ago and reminded her of all the things I just said and told her that it was going to be OK. She knows I have been researching what’s been going on, practically full-time, since 2015. She trusts me. More importantly, she trusts herself.

IMO, the risky, tenuous part is coming to a close and people have prepared a soft landing for all of us, financially, so we can rebuild when this is over. But people should be prepared to be inconvenienced for awhile.

You know how when two kids are fighting on the playground, one gives up and the other kid walks away? Sometimes, the kid on the ground tries to get back on his feet to land one final punch. It is usually ineffectual and there is hell to pay because the other kid is not amused.

If the powers-that-be had a way of taking us all down, they would have done it by now. They gave it their best shot with COVID and the vaccines but they just couldn’t land that final punch.

They’re over. We’re not. Be glad you’re not one of them. There’s a reason they didn’t show up in Davos this year.

  7. I would ignore the Chinese weather balloon. Remember, the “left” wants you to hate Russia and the “right” wants you to hate China. The uniparty wants you to support the American empire. It’s all propaganda.

        I believe you’re right, Misha.

        • Gail Sheppard says

I believe wag the dog means creating a diversion from a damaging issue through military force. What is the diversion and what is the damaging issue?

          • Inflation, classified docs, impending defeat in the Ukraine, open border, there’s a lot of boo boo in the press swirling around Brandon. Saying he gave the order to shoot it down is an attempt to make him look presidential after the embarrassment of the balloon’s discovery by the public over Montana several days ago. Lotsa press focus, drama, tension and then faux resolution by shooting it down over the Atlantic. It had done its job already.

Maybe they’ll recover something, maybe it had an auto destruct to hide its capabilities in case it was shot down. But it very likely transmitted all its data before leaving.

It’s actually no big deal other than an embarrassment for Brandon. You could generate an EMP with a balloon, but that is not a likely way to start a war. Satellites could likely get the equivalent intelligence (they can read license plates and generate thermal imaging).

My guess is it was simply a stunt to humiliate Brandon. Hyping it once it was discovered and then shooting it down when it had done its job was his attempt to look presidential and save face. Also it creates a faux perceived need for intelligence services to defend us and illuminate us against nefarious balloon attacks. Common enemy, shared trauma.

            Theater.

            • Galinushka,

You have a point about the apparent readiness increases in the respective regions. I never intended to deny you that and if it appeared so it is regrettable. I just thought some context might be illuminative.

            • Biden sends Peolosi to Taiwan.
Xi sends a balloon to Montana.
It seems a perfectly measured response.

That Xi did not have Pelosi shot down is because
she will likely do more damage back in the States.

It’s probably one of our balloons and we slapped some paint on there to make it look like it was the Chinese!

        • George Michalopulos says

This just came in: the US today released three ex-jihadis from Guantanamo Bay. While we were all worked up about the balloon, they did this. A perfect distraction.

          • Gail Sheppard says

I know they are moving them out to other detention centers to allow room for others to move it. Could that be what this is?

  8. So what’s the deal with the Chinese balloon?

    Legit or psy-op?

It’s hard to say. The above article is really only noteworthy because it is an acknowledgement that China has the second most extensive satellite network in the world (after the US). The only rationale I can glean from this article, probably inspired or penned in its essentials by the DS, is that balloons are more easily adjusted for course than satellites. This may be true, technically, however, if you have that extensive a satellite network you can parse the tasks of flying over particular, permanent, well known targets among your satellites. You don’t need a spy balloon that can be detected as this one was, violating US airspace.

Smells to me like a psy op and the article almost admits as much as it states the timing is suspiciously close to perceived provocations by the US.

    • Is the balloon real? Yes. Did it intenially fly into US airspace? Probably not. If it did, does it matter? No. China has plenty of satellites that track us (much like we do to them). They don’t need an unreliable balloon, like Misha mentioned above.

  9. An important message from Jackson Hinkle:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_chAdSyBWQ

    • Gail Sheppard says

He’s getting a taste of the absurdity of it all.

    • Thx for posting! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    • He’s getting an education, it will take time for him to understand. He seems to be from a libertarianesque background and simply doesn’t fathom the evil of all things Left.

It is a reality of politics that you have things in common with people you wouldn’t eat with. On economic issues, I’m much more liberal than those I call “conservative liberals”; i.e., American conservatives. They take their basic economic impulse from libertarianism and laissez faire. Mine comes from monarchism which has a healthy respect for redistribution so long as it does not injure the goose that lays the golden eggs; i.e., the security of the upper class is dependent on the satisfaction of the lower classes.

In this regard, I too share some things in common with the centrist and even some lefties. However, their cultural attitudes are so loathsome and evil that cooperation is not possible. We may both push for the same thing on occasion, but we must do so separately, not in common cause. They are simply too evil to associate with them. Better to address it head on. “Yes, I oppose LGBTR2D2 ideology and politics in all their forms. Yes, I revile feminism as a murderous cult.”

Feels good to speak your mind. Don’t pussyfoot on clear dichotomies. It’s like the character from the Black Panthers movie who exclaimed at the rally, “F*** Ronald Reagan!, say it with me!”, and they did, and he then said, “Feels good to speak your mind, doesn’t it!” The Right needs to become so bold. Then it will retake the field.

  10. Here is Batiushka’s take on these matters…

Pontius Pilate in the White House: The US, the Ukraine,
China, Russia and Russian Orthodox Prophecies

    https://thesaker.is/pontius-pilate-in-the-white-house-the-us-the-ukraine-china-russia-and-russian-orthodox-prophecies/

    • Interesting. Lotsa good stuff there. I’m not sure about his assessment of the US’s view of Russia as only a way to get to China and China being the “real enemy”. There is another way to look at that:

You may recall that up until quite recently, the Democratic Party, which runs the US and which is beholden to the DS, was pro-China. Often openly so. It was also deeply compromised by China in a multitude of ways. Bannon’s program used to go deep on this on a regular basis. China was his favorite voodoo doll in which to stick pins.

Biden, from public comments, obviously did not see China as the US’s chief rival. He said as much and repeatedly. All the pro-China Democratic politicians and a number of pro-China Republican pols also did not see China as the chief threat to the US. But it has been US policy for decades to prevent a Sino-Russian alliance. Apart from Radical Islam, Russia has always been THE major threat to the DS/DNC, regardless of what people are saying now and regardless of the occasional warning about China in the past.

What actually happened was that the DS/DNC got in bed with China thinking that China was a friend of globalism and the dominance of the globalist system. They thought, since China was secular and only nominally communist, that it could be converted to Totalitarian Liberalism since the differences were not particularly significant in their eyes. This is why you saw so much public China envy among many in the upper classes.

But a funny thing happened on the way to Western world hegemony: It turns out that China has been nationalist all along and has only been playing along with the DNC/DS insofar as it felt that it served its own national interests. As it became clear that China was slated to become another vassal of globalist hegemony, China decided to ally with Russia. The Chinese have been playing both sides all along. They have cooperated with globalists when it seemed convenient, but they have poured vast resources into developing countries as well to build up national clout and networks of commerce.

The new enemy is not Russia as a stepping stone to China. The new enemy is China as an economic powerhouse not subservient to the West but allied with Russia and the Rest. Russia sought in vain to be integrated as a respectable equal into the Western schemata but was rebuffed and subordinated at every turn. China realized it could be Consul with Russia rather than vassal of DC. Thus China allied with Russia. As that reality emerged, DC has turned on China. Not before.

DC always hated Russia and saw it as an enemy to be subjugated. Why? Because it has a larger nuclear arsenal than America, vast natural resources and, now that communism is no longer dominant there but the ROC has been revived, Russia is a serious ideological threat to DC secularism, much more so than China which is also secular.

What DC actually thought was that Russia could be handled by economic warfare and that would teach China a lesson about getting out of line. That is why they have been so adamant about the Ukraine. Everything depends on it.

But the Ukraine adventure failed. There are some wise enough in DC to realize that this is a total disaster. Some financial analysts are already speaking about globalism being stopped dead in its tracks. They are more inclined to be pragmatic than the pols.

China has a relatively small nuclear arsenal and has run into challenges and resistance even in their ambitions in the South China Sea area. However, if Russia prevails in the current conflict, China has a nuclear ally which can project its umbrella into the area to deter any such threats by the US. Thus Taiwan becomes a completely conventional affair which China can handle with its current arsenal which includes hypersonic missiles.

Russia was always the key. Without its defeat, the whole Western game plan collapses like a house of cards.

    • PS:

You have to think with the mind of empires. It is a game of thrones, after all. China only really threatens the American colony in Taiwan. This is certainly significant given its technological production. However, Russia threatens to steal the entire European colony of America through energy dependence. Taiwan will still export microchips regardless. America already imports a frightful amount from China. But Europe is an integral part of the American Empire. In fact, its what makes America a global player, along with its nuclear arsenal. That’s why Nordstream II had to go before it became fully operational and Europe became even more dependent on Russian energy.

Remember them saying that if Russia invades Ukraine that NSII will end? The thing to realize is that they also orchestrated the Russian invasion of Ukraine as well.

None of this is coincidence. It’s all about the Benjamins.

      • I agree. It is Orthodoxy that is the threat
which keeps the globalists awake at night.
It is the thought that, be they ever so high,
there is a a power that is above them…

  11. Deacon John says

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls. (Luke 21:8-19, KJV)

  15. Seymour Hersh: How America Took Out The Nord Stream Pipeline
    https://seymourhersh.substack.com/p/how-america-took-out-the-nord-stream

The New York Times called it a “mystery,” but the United States
executed a covert sea operation that was kept secret—until now

‘ … In December of 2021, two months before the first Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine, Jake Sullivan convened a meeting of a newly formed task force—men and women from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the CIA, and the State and Treasury Departments—and asked for recommendations about how to respond to Putin’s impending invasion. …

What became clear to participants, according to the source with direct knowledge of the process, is that Sullivan intended for the group to come up with a plan for the destruction of the two Nord Stream pipelines—and that he was delivering on the desires of the President.

Over the next several meetings, the participants debated options for an attack. The Navy proposed using a newly commissioned submarine to assault the pipeline directly. The Air Force discussed dropping bombs with delayed fuses that could be set off remotely. The CIA argued that whatever was done, it would have to be covert. Everyone involved understood the stakes. “This is not kiddie stuff,” the source said. If the attack were traceable to the United States, “It’s an act of war.” …

… in early 2022, the CIA working group reported back to Sullivan’s interagency group: “We have a way to blow up the pipelines.”

What came next was stunning. On February 7, less than three weeks before the seemingly inevitable Russian invasion of Ukraine, Biden met in his White House office with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who, after some wobbling, was now firmly on the American team. At the press briefing that followed, Biden defiantly said, “If Russia invades . . . there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.”

Twenty days earlier, Undersecretary Nuland had delivered essentially the same message at a State Department briefing, with little press coverage. “I want to be very clear to you today,” she said in response to a question. “If Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another Nord Stream 2 will not move forward.”

Several of those involved in planning the pipeline mission were dismayed by what they viewed as indirect references to the attack.

“It was like putting an atomic bomb on the ground in Tokyo and telling the Japanese that we are going to detonate it,” the source said. “The plan was for the options to be executed post invasion and not advertised publicly. Biden simply didn’t get it or ignored it.”

Biden’s and Nuland’s indiscretion, if that is what it was, might have frustrated some of the planners. But it also created an opportunity. According to the source, some of the senior officials of the CIA determined that blowing up the pipeline “no longer could be considered a covert option because the President just announced that we knew how to do it.”
