The purpose of this post was to castigate both the secular Left and increasingly, a certain type of Orthodox pietist/obscurantist, both of which believe that there were no Christians among our Founding Fathers. True, there were “Unitarians, Deists,” and other skeptics but they were definately NOT the majority. Thomas Jefferson was a Deist, of this there can be no doubt. But let me put this in letters that the secular/obscurantists can understand: HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CRAFTING OF THE CONSITUTION. And lookee here: he attended church every Sunday in the Capitol building.
Now that we got that out of the way, the only other Founding Father that we could say was not a Trinitarian Christian was Ben Franklin. All others were orthodox Trinitiarians (even Washington). Did some have doubts? Yes, so what? But we can’t let personal doubt erase public conviction.
