CONSTANTINOPLE – On the feast day of the First and Second Finding of the Venerable Head of John the Baptist, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George in the Phanar and ordained Deacon Iakovos Krochak to the presbytery, awarding him the offikion of Grand Syncellus of the Great Church of Christ. During the same Divine Liturgy the Patriarch ordained Nikolaos Amanatidis from Thessaloniki to the Diaconate, changing his name to Oikoumenios. https://www.thenationalherald.com/world/arthro/ecumenical_patriarch_bartholomew_brings_new_blood_into_the_patriarchal_court-1935933/
Per the Ecumenical Patriarch, “whoever threatens to break Eucharistic Communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate is threatening to be cut himself off from the trunk of the tree of the Orthodox Church. As far as we are concerned, we cannot allow Orthodox Ecclesiology to be distorted with novel theories driven purely by base motives and secular ambitions. The word of Truth is “sharper than any knife.”

Mrs. M
“The word of truth is sharper than a knife.” Denial of the truth makes one ill spiritually. The GOA has been thoroughly corrupted. They should have never taken the 5013c tax exemption, PPE loans, laundered money, lived high in the hog. Dreamers can daydream all they want about going back to the good old days. The GOA has willingly joined the Great Reset along with thousands of other churches. Sorry, to break the news. Open your Bible. The Word of Truth is sharper than a knife.”

As I understand it, there was an Orthodox Church
before there was an Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The people in Istanbul didn’t get the memo.
If they did get it, they wouldn’t have understood it.
It would probably have been all Greek to them…
They live in a self-grandizing echo chamber.
Brendan, well said!
Pointing out that simple fact alone is sufficient to knock down the entire house of cards that the Ecumenical Patriarchate has been hard at work building over the last hundred years.
Anyone know the status of the “St Nicholas (ecumenical) Shrine” in Manhattan, the $80 mil or so monstrosity that the GOA intended to build to “replace” the lovely, small, white Greek Orthodox parish that was destroyed in the Twin Towers attack on 9/11/2001?
Is it still standing there, abandoned and half-built, or is progress being made on it? If it’s abandoned, have pigeons at least moved into it?
I don’t understand how the first part about ordination is relevant. I’m not saying that in a mean way. I just don’t get the connection.
