Blue Lives Matter

Forgive me for not bending the knee to the odious communist organization known as Black Lives Matter. Even if they weren’t a commie agitprop organization, I would never accept their mantra. Why? Because all lives matter. I simply will not accept any groups’ lives as being somewhat more special than others. (And I know that they are nothing more than a shakedown racket, as well.)

Of course, that’s not what I wrote in the title is it? Yours Truly singled out blue lives in particular. So am I being a hypocrite? No, not really; I’m being a polemicist. That’s because I wanted to bring your attention to the whole “defund the police” nonsense which is sweeping the nation. In particular, I wanted to put a face on this present evil –a local face.

Yesterday, Sgt Craig Johnson, of the Tulsa Police Force, died as the result of multiple shootings to his face. The alleged murderer, David Ware, had been pulled over for a moving violation. He appeared agitated and disarmed Officer Johnson and his partner, Aurash Zarkesha (who was also grievously wounded) and then proceeded to shoot them both in the head as they were lying on the ground.

It had been the first fatal shooting of a Tulsa police officer in 24 years.

While this has become a major news story in Oklahoma, as far as MSNBC and CNN are concerned –crickets. The CNN report merely states that there had been a “scuffle” and that the perpetrator had somehow “acquired” the officer’s gun. Their reportage has been passive.

In reality, Johnson and Zarkesha had stopped David Ware at 3:00 o’clock in the morning and asked to get out of his car twelve different times. When Ware refused to cooperate, Johnson threatened to use his taser on him. He wound up using it but it did not incapacitate Ware. Johnson also used pepper spray twice but it did not stop Ware either.

This is far from a “scuffle”.

I could go on about this atrocity but at this point, it’s almost incidental. The national news media’s passive voice is the point and that is that they are most definitely not on the side of the police. It is for this reason that police are being demoralized all over the nation. Even in Red Cities.

A little over a month ago, during the COVID-19 lock-down, Yours Truly published a critique of the Blue-State governors and how they were forcing their police forces to enforce their ridiculous measures. I issued a general warning to the police to kindly consider standing down and not going along with these ridiculous diktats. Specifically, I said that if they do go on enforcing them, they will erode the trust and goodwill that most Americans feel for them. And all for naught. The “naught” being that those very same police who are enacting Governor Gretchen’s and Mayor Karen’s mindless directives will be thrown under the bus by the very same liberals when the next thing blows up. In this case, the “thing” being the martyrdom of St George Floyd.

Clearly, that wasn’t the issue here in Oklahoma and it has nothing to do with Johnson’s murder. Still, this is of a piece with what is going on in America at present. The fact remains that the criminal elements are being emboldened in ways that were unimaginable just a year ago.

And you know what else? I wonder what was going through Officers Johnson’s and Zarkesha’s minds when they were locked in that “scuffle” with Ware? That a cop in Atlanta is facing the death penalty for apprehending another violent felon? (And his step-mother lost her job simply because she was related to him?) That if they had used the same choke-hold that saved Derek Chauvin’s life in Minneapolis, they would wind up in jail?

In police work, it’s a cliche that “seconds matter”. That’s not necessarily true —split-seconds matter. Were these two Tulsa cops psychologically incapacitated –if only for a split-second–because they were wondering what would happen to them if something bad happened to Ware?

One wonders.

You and I have the luxury of being Monday-morning quarterbacks. Our cops, the Thin Blue Line, don’t. And now, thanks to wicked magistrates and the BLM death-cult, they are being set up for even more danger.

In the meantime, a GoFundMe page has been set up for these officers and their families.  https://www.gofundme.com/f/3hv7t-beauty-for-ashes

Lord have mercy.

  1. Off topic question. Does the Orthodox have something like the Rosary?

    • Michael Bauman says

Nothing like the Rosary per se.  We have innumerable prayers to the Holy Theotokos long and short but our primary short prayer of repentance, devotion and intercession is the Jesus Prayer:  Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a (or the) sinner.
One prayer that my wife and I use daily to the Theotokos is this:
O our beloved Queen, my hope, O blessed lady Theotokos, protector of orphans and protector of those who are hurt, the intercessor of those who perish and the consolation of all those who are in distress, you see our distress. Help us, we are powerless, give us strength. You know what we suffer, you know our grief. Lend us your hand because who else can be our hope but you, our protector and intercessor before God? We have sinned before you and before all people. Be our Mother, our consoler, our helper. Protect us and save us, chase grief away from us, chase away lowness of heart and despondency; anger, sloth and fear (other sins). Restore our home, prosper our businesses. Bless all of our family, friends and loved ones with mercy, grace, peace and healing that they might come into the Kingdom.  Especially (names).  Thank you, O Mother of my God!

    • Antiochene Son says

It is said that St. Seraphim of Sarov developed a rosary-like prayer rule but I’ve only seen scarce details.

There’s nothing wrong or unorthodox with the rosary itself (though some of the associated meditations may be problematic). It’s just not part of the Eastern tradition.

A common prayer with similar content is called The Angelic Salutation:

“Theotokos and Virgin, rejoice! Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls.”

It is found at the end of some prayer rules, said three times. It could be prayed with a prayer rope in similar fashion to the rosary, if desired.

      • “It is found at the end of some prayer rules, said three times. It could be prayed with a prayer rope in similar fashion to the rosary, if desired.”

It could be prayed like that, but then it wouldn’t Orthodox, because now you’re praying 10x as much to the Roman “Mary” as to Christ and the Trinity, whereas the popular piety in Orthodoxy is defined by the Jesus Prayer.

      • Another prayer rule that I heard is saying “Mary, mother of God, save us.” 50x after saying the Jesus prayer 100x.

    • Pat Reardon says

Does the Orthodox have something like the Rosary?

The Western Rosary is one of several things I have never given up during my 30-some years in the Orthodox Church.

      • Dear Father Reardon:
How lovely to hear!  When I converted from Catholicism to Orthodoxy 12 years ago  I continued to pray with my wonderful Catholic Pro-Life group  in front of   Planned Parenthood and a couple of regulars were distressed I had converted (because they understood our true differences).  Vladika Dmitri Royster gave me his blessing to keep saying the Rosary aloud with them during public prayer but to “be quiet and say the Jesus Prayer internally during the heretical ones”.   Now I use my favorite Rosary beads from the sidewalk to say the Jesus Prayer and find the continuity quite comforting and harmonious as you do!

      • Michael Bauman says

Father Patrick, it seems to me that the Rosary is sort of a condensed, personal version of the Athathist to Mary. But I may be wrong.

Let’s face it. There would be more CHAZ and building without the cops. The same thing happen in the 1960’s were cities were afraid the cops were too brutal to blacks because of riots then as well. Anyways, Joe Biden is he next Jimmy Carter, even if he wins it will be one term and his VP will lose to a republican in 2024. History almost repeats itself.

    • George Michalopulos says

CHAZ got a little too “choppy” for Mayor Idiot Durkan when the demons found out where she was living and decided to pay her a visit.

  3. the Ossetian says

Just imagine if David Ware who I believe is white was killed during this “scuffle”.Would we turn him into a martyr?? Nope …… wrong color

    • cynthia curran says

Well, the whole thing was just ugly. So much damage and some death. Some people who protested were not hardcore Black Lives Matter, or Antifa, or some other group that wanted to do destruction. I think its wrong to bully individuals and companies by pulling down statues and protesting for about 5 years with some buildings set afire and looting. Its not going to get white people to respect black people more.

  4. Antiochene Son says

I’m not sure why any police officer is still going to work these days. Watch the world burn, get shot, or go to jail are the three options facing you every day.

Police brutality is a problem to be sure. I’m fine with no-knock warrants being banned, and cops who execute people for no reason (including white people) should face the consequences.

But it’s not really about police brutality. Like flags and statues, the police are a proxy for what they actually want to destroy: civilization.

  5. Sage-Girl says

     ?‍♀️BLUE  LIVES  MATTER …  MORE ?
why? cause police are trained to protect our lives, protect our property + keep Law & Order; how many of us do that? So they’re lives do matter more.
God Bless Sgt. Craig Johnson — be certain, Archangel Michael ushered him in with a crown

  6. Michael Bauman says

May his memory be eternal and I pray that he is in a place of brightness, a place of verdure, a place of repose where all sickness, sorrow and sighing have fled away. And that his family be granted the Spirit of Joy that only comes from realizing that Christ is Risen, trampling down death by death!!!
I found this out during the Pascha of 2005, three weeks after my wife of 24 years had died.  I experienced the Resurrection and her resurrection deeply and simultaneously.  I know it.  When I remember I can honestly say, in the midst of grief and sorrow that Craig Johnson’s family and friends are immersed in (feeling is too small a word).
Surely, the brutal ideologies of our time led to his death, but just as surely those ideologies will do nothing but perpetuate the brutality.  And whether it will be heard or not regardless of the perpetrator’s own brutality, it will not even approach being healed until diving while black is no longer a crime.  Even if that had no direct impact on this stop, and I am sure it did not.

    • Gail Sheppard says

Thank you for this, Michael. May it be so.

      • Michael Bauman says

Gail, as painful as it is, death is not the worst thing that can happen.  Worse is being inwardly estranged from the Church due to mistreatment by people in the Church.  That is the “rest of the story” as it were.  My late wife had suffered at the hands of ignorant idiots and a dysfunctional priest and had not attended Divine Liturgy for several years even though we had changed parishes. So my soul was healed on many levels by the miracle of Resurection.  However I still wonder what it might have been like for her and our marriage which suffered too had she found forgiveness in her heart.   Still our Lord is merciful.
        Christ is Risen!

    • “until d[r]iving while black is no longer a crime”

There are places where the police have all but abandoned, so no criminal has to fear driving while being a criminal, committing a crime, while black.  If living in the final product of your own rhetoric intrigues you, you can buy yourself a house for as little as one dollar, and save yourself the long struggle and wait of transforming your current locale.

  7. I am perplexed by something. BLM are self-described Marxists. They do not even try to hide it. And yet many politicians, (democrat and republican), offer their full support. What am I missing here? Either these politicians are Marxist…or they are completely ignorant. We live in dangerous times.

    • George Michalopulos says

Or the politicians themselves are insane as the result of some drug that’s in their drinking water.  Or they are simply cowards.  I myself am highly disappointed in my own Senator, James Lankford, who recently proposed that we drop Columbus Day as a national holiday and replace it with Juneteenth.  (For the record, I have no problem with adding Juneteenth as a national holiday.)

      • cynthia curran says

Good point, but we already have Martin Luther King day. The Corona Virus has brought in folks usually not attractive to this stuff. There are taxi cab drivers in New York marching to the Hamptons tax the rich. Its not your usual middle to upper middle class white college graduated in this which the right thinks. Cabies in New York tend to be from other countries and pay a lot for the medallions. https://pagesix.com/2020/07/01/hamptons-billionaires-car-caravan-protest-targets-east-end-vacation-homes/?_ga=2.29452863.1087899358.1593657618-1572860139.1583024459

      • “(For the record, I have no problem with adding Juneteenth as a national holiday.)”

I have a problem with it, I suspect it could become the annual Purge, when all violence becomes against whites becomes even more celebrated and more unpunished than usual.  At best it will just be national day of shame for whites, including overseas, probably with customary literal groveling at black feet, starting optional and becoming ever more mandatory.

        • Michael Bauman says

Myst, while I cannot deny the possibility of what you say happening in today’s ideological environment that only means we are all require to enter into repentance/forgiveness more proactively. Repentance and forgiveness are require by all people of both races. Mercy through God’s grace is the only thing that will heal our hearts and restore our common humanity. No amount of justice will suffice.
That is the testimony of the Church which is in great danger of being drowned out. Nevertheless, it will not vanish and the opportunities for repentance/forgiveness are ever present. In reaching for them and embracing them, the gift of tears will emerge and the healing that gift brings.
I doubt we will be granted that gift as a nation but there is no reason each of us here cannot reach for it in contrition, humility and love. Otherwise we will be subject to “justice”.

        • Sage-Girl says

Just heard BLM is marching with pitch forks ?disrupting the Hamptons – pitch forks came so they know Diabolo Devil has arrived at door of rich liberals. Will anyone come out door with guns like that couple??

          • George Michalopulos says

This is yet another example of the Revolution eating its own.  I should, as a principled conservative come to the aid of the Hamptonites and other mega-wealthy people, but it is those miscreants who have unleashed the demons upon us.  As the story goes of the Golem or Frankenstein’s monster, once these demons are unleashed, no one is safe.

    • Mikhail,
if we believe the information in Wurmbrand’s book, Marx was a “priest” of Satan’s Church.

      https://www.amazon.com/Marx-Satan-Richard-Wurmbrand-ebook/dp/B00U6T0DSO/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1UASA931MFJ11&dchild=1&keywords=marx and satan&qid=1593679675&sprefix=marx was sa,aps,289&sr=8-1

So, those politicians have a different (more important) “level” for agreeing with Marx.

      • George Michalopulos says

Wurmbrand was not only a saint but a prophet.

      • Michael Bauman says

Ioannis, there is no doubt that Hitler was of the same spirit . . . Mao too.

        • Michael,
          Correct!
Let’s hope Xi isn’t, because Putin has “invested” in him.

          • Michael Bauman says

Ioannis, one could pray that the autocracy of the ancient Chinese would overcome the brutality of Marxism but it is unlikely.  Marxism is a convenient rationale in the modern world whereas traditional hierarchy and autocracy is a no-no.
In any case, we need to pray for the lost rulers of this world as the demons are having a feast on all of their souls.
            God forgive me, a sinner.

Big if true. If turning against Israel indicates it has been hijacked, then it stands to reason people connected to Israel are running and/or funding BLM. ?

      • cynthia curran says

BLM has always been pro-Palestinan, but some jews that supported might not have known. David Horowitz site discover the network has detailed information on BLm. In fact, they are right now doing a blockade against Trump trying to prevent him going up to Mr Rushmore.

        • George Michalopulos says

BTW, I just finished reading Dark Agenda by David Horowitz. I highly recommend it. It is one of the best apologia for Christian (albeit Protestant) America I’ve ever read. And it was written by a Jewish agnostic who was raised in a communist household.

          • Sage-Girl says

            George –
Yes and you’ve got to read David Horowitz new book: ?

              Reading it right now.

              • Matthew Panchisin says

Trump should populate the U.S. military (most importantly the top brass) with devout republican patriots and dishonorably discharge all those with the insane far left mindset
that should not be bearing arms that could be used against the sane. They are for gun control, psychological fitness background checks and human control, see CNN.

It could rightly be argued that the implementation of such actions from the Commander & Chief is a necessity for all Americans at this time.

They already own most of the media so next they’ll be looking for control in the military and then it’s an unfair civil war.

                • George Michalopulos says

Mattthew, that’s going to be hard to do because thanks to Clinton’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy of twenty-five years ago, the upper brass of the military is now totally compromised politically. I know for a fact that the Pentagon is just as besotted by the whole SJW nonsense as any other major institution in America.

Unfortunately, it will take a humiliating military defeat to clean out this mess. And even then I’m not hopeful as the GOP has shown themselves to be cowards in standing up to this wicked ideology. Romney is just their idiot poster-boy in this regard.

  8. If y’all haven’t, I recommend getting Parler. I downloaded it based off of a conservative commentator I follow on YouTube, Dr. Steve Turley (also highly recommend him).

It’s been a welcomed relief from the cesspool of Twitter. I’ve only had it a few days but it’s a good place for conservatives to gather. Perhaps a Monomakhos parler page?

  11. Good George Bush Jr. Statement supporting peaceful anti-racist protests but not looting:

Statement by President George W. Bush“The heroes of America — from Frederick Douglass, to Harriet Tubman, to Abraham Lincoln, to Martin Luther King, Jr. — are heroes of unity. Their calling has never been for the fainthearted. They often revealed the nation’s disturbing bigotry and exploitation — stains on our character sometimes difficult for the American majority to examine. We can only see the reality of America’s need by seeing it through the eyes of the threatened, oppressed, and disenfranchised. ”

    June 2, 2020
It remains a shocking failure that many African Americans, especially young African American men, are harassed and threatened in their own country. It is a strength when protesters, protected by responsible law enforcement, march for a better future. This tragedy — in a long series of similar tragedies — raises a long overdue question: How do we end systemic racism in our society? The only way to see ourselves in a true light is to listen to the voices of so many who are hurting and grieving. Those who set out to silence those voices do not understand the meaning of America — or how it becomes a better place. ———————

Besides, she is old enough to be their great grand MA.

  13. cynthia curran says

In a New York City speech on July 9, 1975, Russian dissident and Nobel Laureate Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn told an AFL-CIO meeting that Davis was derelict in having failed to support prisoners in various socialist countries around the world, given her strong opposition to the US prison system. He claimed a group of Czech prisoners had appealed to Davis for support, which Solzhenitsyn said she had declined.[57] In fact, Jiří Pelikán wrote an open letter asking her to support Czech prisoners, which Davis refused, believing that the Czech prisoners were undermining the Husák government and that Pelikán, in exile in Italy, was attacking his own country.[58] Regarding Czech prisoners being “persecuted by the state”, Solzhenitsyn claimed Davis responded, “They deserve what they get. Let them remain in prison.”[59] Alan Dershowitz, who also asked Davis for support for imprisoned refuseniks in the USSR, said that a “secretary” of Davis told him “they are all Zionist fascists and opponents of socialism.”[60] These kids that were at CHOP had her picture up. I understand why she went so left as a kid since their were communist in her group and some whites tried to bomb some blacks out of the neighborhood, but it doesn’t explain her cold difference to political prisoners of the communist.

      • Daniel,
Cherry on the top, the NFL, during its first week of the season, will do some African American nation anthem before their games. What do you wanna bet 99% of black Americans never even heard of such a thing as a African American national anthem, until some woke Google expert found one?

Now supporting the NBA in any way, in my opinion, is just short of treason. The NBA has made their choice;  Communist Chinese government first, Black  Americans second, all other Americans third, the American Republic(USA) fourth, and the American flag last. Not to mention showing any allegiance or patriotism to God and Country(USA) is racist.

Dino, Daniel, AS, Michael, if I were an evil mastermind, I could not think of a better way to destroy professional sports than all this BML Afro-supremacist nonsense.

And more’s the pity: professional sports are one of the most particular –albeit spectacular–ways for young African-American men to get out of the pathology that is the modern, American big city and become massively wealthy.

Unless this nonsense is turned around –and soon–many African-Americans will be eating ashes and tasting dust. They will be like the Jews exiled in Babylon who “wept bitter tears” and the supposed bad old days will look like a golden age in retrospect. They will have been played for fools while the lesbian Marxists and their clique who make up BLM will be laughing all the way to the bank while they have nothing.

https://news.yahoo.com/amphtml/unidentified-federal-agents-camo-rented-045600138.html) The Miranda rights involved are a cornerstone and fundamental part of democracy. In the most extreme cases, in dictatorships like 1930’s Germany and Stalin’s USSR, agents picked up suspects off the street or in their homes at night without any notice or in some cases why or where they were being taken.

Of course, they can apprehend a suspect and remove them from a potentially volatile situation before doing anything else. Unless you were in the van, you have no idea they didn’t read the person their Miranda rights.

In this video you see and hear a woman, who seemingly thinks she has the right to demand an officer USE HIS WORDS and explain to her what he’s doing. Law enforcement agents have no obligation to explain what they’re doing to bystanders.

What sort of transportation do you expect them to use when insane people target marked police cars, even setting them on fire? They’re not stupid.

OF COURSE, they are using surveillance tracking! Are you not aware of the Patriot Act? They can even monitor every single conversation on a cell phone, thanks to Obama. They have pretty sophisticated face recognition software, too, and I’m sure more than a few anonymous philanthropists are funding whatever else they need to get this crazy stuff off the streets of Portland. Portland is very liberal but they’re not stupid. Like most cities, they have had enough.

How do you know that this person was being arrested for protesting? Haven’t you ever seen an episode of the Bounty Hunter? When they catch up with someone, often pulling them out of bed, it’s not because they were sleeping. Arrests do not necessarily happen during the commission of a crime.

It wasn’t that they took people off the streets in Germany, the USSR, that made it so deplorable. It is because they did it to innocent people and these poor people just disappeared. The people you see being pulled off the streets now are being charged with crimes and will later be tried for these crimes. If guilty, they will spend a very long time in jail. You’ll be able to visit them there. They aren’t disappearing.

      • “Videos are turning up of apparent federal agents picking up seeming protestors and abducting them while the seeming anti-police-brutality protestors are not protesting or in the commission of a crime. The agents are not telling them why they are being taken away”

Odds approach 100% that those aren’t protesters, but undercover agents being extracted from the protests, and that’s why the people being “arrested” aren’t even keen to tell the other protesters who they are, when asked, so as to receive help getting sprung from jail.

Also, the little darlings have been burning things like elks for over a month. An elks statue. The left has just kiss their rear in Portland for years. Andy Ngo was attack last year by the same protesters being picked up by the federal agencies last year. The same people. They threw a balloon of cement at him and he was in the hospital along with 8 people mainly police last year. The left continues to excuse them after killing 2 people in Seattle at Chop. One admitted to killing a policeman on his facebook and telling his mother over the phone about it in another part of Washington He had lots of Black Lives Matter info on his facebook. Another who was Antifa attack two Latino Marines 3 years ago in Pa  William Van Sporsen, that belong to the John Brown gun club. A gun club for Antifa tried to  blow up the Ice Facility in Washington last yar. Yes, according to Andy Ngo, and Asian not a white supremacist they have been setting buildings and statues on fire and writing all over the place and using hammers to attack the police but the left is still with the little darlings since they dislike fascist conservatives.

Good point. They have beaten people for about the past 7 years in Portland. Our liberal friends have always excuse them even though Mr Andy Ngo has the goods on them.

Hal, I have long decried the militarization of our police forces.  I am open to the re-imagining community-based policing.  This is far beyond taking cues based on the cultural context of the inner city and policing it accordingly. (This of course will lead to more tribalism a la the Ottoman millet system so you can kiss the “all men are created equal” crap goodbye.)

But what the hell did these SJW/barbarians expect would happen when they unleashed anarchy and mob violence and vandalism on the streets?  What did they think would happen when they spit in the faces of police and hurl vile epithets (some quite racist) at police?  Why, the police would suit up like Iron Man.

A black policeman in Portland said it has not been peaceful. Why people buy that the protests in Portland are peaceful I don’t know. The black policeman stated that his cousin wanted to do one of the protest but changed his mine since they are not peaceful. The black policeman seems to not be on the oleft or right as much which means that the protesters in Portland are not peaceful and some deserved arrest.

Worthy of note: former NBA MVP and current player James Harden was seen wearing a “Thin Blue Line” COVID mask.
You can imagine the reaction.  But because he is an elite player, somewhat muted
