Another High Profile Look into the GOA

Haven’t heard much about Fr. Alex lately.

Has he extricated himself from all his woes?  I’m guessing the answer is no.

“According to the transcript from Monday, congressional investigators asked Archer (Hunter Biden’s former business associate) who attended that spring 2015 dinner.

“That dinner was — I think we went over it before, but it was Vadym, Hunter, Joe, myself, Karim Massimov, a Greek Orthodox priest (Fr. Karloutsos), maybe someone from World Food Programme,” Archer said.

“And what did Joe do at that dinner? Did he have dinner? How long was he there?” the congressional investigator asked Archer.

“He had dinner. He had dinner,” Archer responded. “And there was — on that one, I believe the first one was, like, a birthday dinner, and then the second was — I think we were supposed to talk about the World Food Programme. So, there was some talk about that.”

Pozharskyi made headlines last month after Fox News Digital reported about his correspondence with Hunter Biden, Archer and longtime business partner Eric Schwerin months after the dinner about the “ultimate purpose” of his involvement with the Ukrainian energy company.

“My only concern is for us to be on the same page re our final goals,” Pozharskyi wrote. “With this in mind, I would like us to formulate a list of deliverables, including, but not limited to: a concrete course of actions, incl. meetings/communications resulting in high-ranking US officials in Ukraine (US Ambassador) and in US publicly or in private communication/comment expressing their ‘positive opinion’ and support of Nikolay/Burisma to the highest level of decision makers here in Ukraine :President of Ukraine, president Chief of staff, Prosecutor General, etc.”

“Looking forward to getting started on this,” Hunter Biden replied.

In the email chain, Archer followed up to Hunter’s guest list and said, “Obviously save a seat for your guy,” which appears to be a reference to Biden. During the interview with Archer, he acknowledged that Hunter would refer to his dad as “my guy.” However, it is unclear whether this specific reference from Archer is about the elder Biden.

In March 2015, Hunter Biden and Devon Archer discussed the guest list for the April 2015 dinner at Cafe Milano, which included then-Vice President Biden and a top Burisma executive. (Fox News)

The following is less about the Medal of Freedom and more about vaccines.

A strong advocate all the way through August 2023 when it became common knowledge how dangerous they were.   He obviously doesn’t read our blog or he would know that.  (But we read about him.)  Nobody wanted the boosters so the administration put Father Alex to work to get out the rest of those vaccines.  Vaccines that went to your children!

I would say if the Bidens are not off the hook, Father Alex is not off the hook.  It’s funny, too.  All this time I thought that 501c3s were absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.  –  There is nothing more politically charged than public health but here he is shilling for the vaccines which is almost exclusively promoted by the left, more specifically by the Biden administration.

The same position is taken by the Ecumenical Patriarch who was shilling for COP26 at the meeting in Glasgow.

And then there is their involvement in Ukraine.  Deep involvement.  Possibility criminal involvement of laundering money and advocating for the “sovereignty of Ukraine” to keep it coming.  The leadership of the GOA and Ecumenical Patriarchate are walking, talking promoters of all things Biden and have been for as long as Father Karloutsos has known him, which from what he says, is a very long, long time.

This is also interesting:  Fr. Alex denies living or having an office in New York County on the following petition submitted December 2023 to quash a subpoena for information having to do with his alleged connection to Dominion which he apparently denies.

Someone we know has spoken to us many times about her visits to his office in New York where she lives and his apartment, which he told her he kept for out-of-town relatives.  We assume it must exist, as she was hoping she could talk him into letting her live there.  Nothing salacious, specifically.  Only that he had an office where she would visit and an often empty, nice apartment where he, too, would stay.

This is really beyond the pale.  Maybe it’s because I’m not high in the food chain, but I do not understand why the GOA does not resolve this.  You.  The you who are reading this.  This impacts the entire Church.  If the GOA is disgraced, and it’s looking like that is a distinct possibility, it won’t do much for evangelism in this country.  You will all go under and the thing is, most of you know it.

And I’ve got nothing against Greeks.  I married one.  My problem is with the out and out corruption and though George doesn’t talk about it, perhaps out of loyalty, he has a problem with it, too.  The cringe factor has gone way up.

If I sound mad and disgusted, then I hit the right chord.  This is truly beyond the pale and the rest of the Church will not support this.  This is why it is ludicrous to imagine the GOA heading anything in this country because frankly it’s going to tank before it gets that far.  Kudos to the Assembly of Canonical Bishops for keeping its distance over the Belya thing.

The solution is easy.  Stop allowing this.  Retire your leadership before they wind up in jail.  Don’t arrange for them to get medals and human rights awards.

  1. Sir Gatanas says

Alex Karloutsos gaining the Presidential Medal of Freedom was not earned but his infamous nickname among the Greek & rest of Eastern Orthodox world as “Prince of Darkness” IS earned.
How grotesque to hear while in Greece, Rev. Karloutsos wearing his priestly collar was promoting gay marriage & adoption for his fruit buddies SYRIZA? In hell, there’s special place reserved for this money greedy, heretic & false prophet.

  2. Ronda Wintheiser says

Some years ago, IOCC invited one Greek Orthodox politician — the Senator from Maryland, Sarbannes — to speak at a gala fundraiser here in the Twin Cities.

Knowing how the Senator was voting, I asked them, in a letter, to reconsider their choice of a speaker.

    • Well stated, Rhonda.

    • Art Samouris says

Ronda – Thank you for your determined stand for Christ and His Church against the deceivers of the World.

    • Great letter Rhonda. I also stopped donating to the IOCC many years ago for the same reason. Sarbanes was the 1994 recipient of the Athenagoros human rights award. Lord have mercy on his soul.

      • FWIW, a strong case can be made that the IOCC, was one of the NGOs acting in Eastern European (and Georgia) countries to subvert the growing influence of the Russian Orthodox Church.

        • OCMC as well. Their mission effort, while well-meaning and effective, is very Greek oriented. After the Ukrainian split, several priests objected to the Patriarch of Alexandria’s endorsement on the non-canonical church, and went to the Russians:
Russian Synod announces receptionof 102 African Priests

The Russian element has been present in parts of Africa for a while. but here’s some of the PR that followed: Russia’s plan to seduce Christians in Africa

Alexandrian Patriarchal people missed the point, they were pretty condescending towards the priests who objected. As long as they were pseudo-Greeks, it was ok. Colonialism continued under the guise of church.

          • I have a lot of respect for the OCMC and have always had great experiences and interactions with them.

But you are correct, they are very Greek-heavy and even though they are under the AOB they are functionally GOARCH. Most of their missions abroad, outside of a couple of instances, are under the EP or another Greek Patriarchate.

Quite a bit seems to have changed over the past few years and they have scaled way back on their mission trips.

Since a lot of their short term missionaries were not from GOARCH I get the impression that since the schism that many of the short term missionaries “in the know” do not want to go on mission trips under the EP or Alexandrian Church (myself included)

            • Ronda Wintheiser says

First off, I wasn’t meaning to get kudos. I was making the point that everybody has a role to play.

I went on two different short term mission trips with OCMC. I admired those people so much.

Until I saw them bowing and scraping before Elpi not too long ago.

What is up with that? It’s the same thing as with IOCC and Sarbannes.

And what’s up with it is MONEY.

I know from someone who is more than a reliable source that the Ritsis have, in his words, made it their personal mission to try to destroy Orthodox Africa, which is maybe saying the same thing you are, Petros. He says they “thought we were competition for a limited pool of donors.”

              Who does that?

He says that “OCMC has a neo colonial mentality of telling local missions what they need rather than being able to listen to local partners and actually address the problems they are really facing.”

There is more, but said it in confidence so I don’t want to say any more. This was such a shocker to me. Coming from an evangelical background. My degree is in Missiology and I never heard of this kind of meanness. Evangelical mission organizations all get together and work together to evangelize. Gee.

              • I have also done short term trips with OCMC. What I experienced was life-changing. But yes, I agree with your source. Despite the weak pushback to colonialism, a new kind of colonialism takes the place of what was before. Is it because the people in Africa specifically are comfortable with it? some are. But there are many that are ready to take a leadership role, which has been pretty quashed. When Bishop Athanasios of Kisumu died (a true visionary), he was replaced with a white Greek bishop from South Africa, who had no experience with the people under his omophor. Was that a better choice than an African? The jury is still out, even after a few years.

Mission. it’s pretty simple. Spread the Gospel. feed the hungry, tend the sick, etc. But it’s big business in some organizations. Keep the donors happy.

  3. This seems like an appropriate place to leave this video:

As for the “Prince of Darkness” Karloutsos, nothing is going to happen to him if Biden (or any other Dem) gets elected. They’re all in the same rotten boat.

If Trump manages to get elected then I could see Karloutsos being implicated indirectly.

This is why it is ludicrous to imagine the GOA heading anything in this country because frankly it’s going to tank before it gets that far.

That’s why many of us have been asking WHY after all the scandals, etc., is Elpi still head of the Assembly. Either revoke Elpi’s position, or, leave the Assembly. Talk about hurting the witness of Orthodoxy in America.

In the wider context of Greeks and reprecussions on evangelism, looks like the Africans under the Alexandrian Patriarchate are having to do damage control due to the recent decisions in Greece:

Given that its the Greek Patriarchate & also given the amount of $$ that Greece provides to the Patriarchate, I would not be surprised to see more ethnically African clerics speak out, or, wholly switch to the Russian Exarchate.

  4. Zoey Metaxas says

    Thanks Petros,
Yes many Orthodox African clerics hold loyalty to gospel & denounce liberal woke infiltrating Church as do majority Anglican clerics in Africa.
And let’s pray Trump is back as President and
Rasputin Karloutsos gets implicated… it’s astounding what he’s gotten away with, any other priest would’ve been defrocked.

    • Wherever there is one who gets away with it, there is usually another and another. These people operate in packs.

  5. Proof that Patriarch Bartholomew & the Ecumenical Patriarchate will never learn. Allowing a non-Orthodox person, and specifically a non-Orthodox person who helped start a schism in Orthodoxy, will be speaking at this event:

The speaker at the “4th Archon International Conference of Religious Freedom” to be held in Athens on May 26-29, 2024 will be former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo .
The Conference, which is under the guidance of His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew, will focus on human rights, democracy and religious freedom.

In it, the Order of Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from America, the members of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Pammakaristos in Greece, as well as Lords from Canada, Europe and Australia will meet for the first time.

“The Archons have long been a bulwark in the defense of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the faithful around the world,” said former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “As we face a rising tide of religious persecution and conflict around the world, I am proud to continue to contribute to the important work of the Lords . ”

“Secretary Pompeo has put religious freedom front and center during his tenure at the State Department ,” said Order of Knights of America National Commander Dr. Antonios Lymberakis. “We are honored to have such a distinguished speaker at the 4th Archon International Conference on Religious Freedom . ”

Michael Pompeo served as the 70th Secretary of State of the United States, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and was elected to four terms in Congress, representing the Fourth District of Kansas. He graduated first in his class from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986 and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He currently serves as Senior Advisor for Global Affairs at the American Center for Law and Justice and is a Fellow of the Hudson Institute.

The Order of Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate is a dedicated group of leaders, working tirelessly to protect religious freedom for all and secure the future of the Ecumenical Patriarchate – the historic spiritual center of the world’s 300+ million Orthodox Christians.

Circa 2024 the Ecumenical Patriarch is no more the spiritual center of Orthodoxy than Cairo, Mumbai, or any other city.

    • “The Order of Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate”…?

And there was me thinking the EP had but ONE Lord.

      • I’m afraid that they will never learn. The Lord is long-suffering in His mercy but there always comes a time when hubris and arrogance approaches stupidity and contrivances (i.e. “Order of the Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate”).

        When that happens, watch out.

  6. Appeal for Help:
My friend Hieromonk Theodore Stanway of Holy Trinity, Jordanville
needs support due to bureaucratic red tape stranding him in England.
His Godson has set up a GiveSendGo to raise the necessary funds.

    Support Father Theodore’s living expenses

‘ On November 9, 2023, Father Theodore took a trip outside the United States to normalize his visa status with the expectation of a prompt return, but he has since been denied re-entry into the United States and must reside outside the US for an indeterminate time.

Meanwhile, he will assist Bishop Irenei at ROCOR’s London Cathedral and other neighboring parishes. Since London does not have a monastery, Father Theodore must rent an apartment there. Since Holy Trinity Monastery financially supports him during this time, Father Theodore asks for your donations to the monastery to help alleviate its monetary burden. ‘

As Fr Theodore expressed to me in an email:
“Just to be clear, I don’t get anything from this,
it all goes direct to the monastery
    to cover the unexpected deficit.”

If you can help, please do.

    • “…but he has since been denied re-entry into the United States and must reside outside the US for an indeterminate time.”

Please forgive the snark under such circumstances, but given our present crisis at the southern border, the irony of this is beyond belief. Perhaps he should fly to Mexico and enter from the south. Both he and the monastery would likely be money ahead.

    • Thank you for posting this. I met Fr. Theodore last year during a pilgrimage to Jordanville. He is a gifted Hieromonk. I will definitely donate. I find it interesting that the Biden regime allows 7.5 million illegals across the border while offering food, shelter, housing, and debit cards. But a priestmonk who has been living at a Russian monastery? Don’t let him in!
      What a disgrace.

    • On behalf of Fr Theodore Stanway,
I would like to thank all those readers
      who contributed to this GiveSendGo,
which has now attained its target.
      God bless you all!

  7. I saw this quote from Byzantine Texas and thought this person made some good points:

The Patriarchate is torn between its ties to the “Ecumenical”/Academic world and its history as THE Greek Patriarchate. The Patriarchate couldn’t go against all of the Greek Churches on the homosexual relationships question (which was overwhelmingly negative), and so they issued a statement declaring the impossibility of recognizing such relationships. They were criticized for being last, and chided for being “dragged into” stating the Orthodox position, but I think it is indicative of the division within the Patriarchate itself. Deacon John Chryssavgis has written another article attacking the Church of Greece’s position on Public Orthodoxy, where he speaks for the “Fordhamite wing.” On the other side, you have Mt. Athos, Northern Greece, and Crete. One consequence of homosexual marriage coming to Greece is that I think in the long run, it will push Greek Orthodoxy away from “Ecumenism.” Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus will no longer be dismissed as a lone crank. Pious Greeks are riled up, and so HAH Bartholomew has to tread lightly. Greek solidarity is still of tremendous importance to the Patriarchate, and in that respect, this gay marriage fight may have been the very thing that killed any plan for union with Catholics, if such a thing was even seriously being considered.

With an emphasis on the two bolded portions. I think this person might actually be correct on this.
