I’m shocked, shocked to find that sports partisanship is going on in here!

Well, I’m glad OU beat Alabama and my former assistant pastor will be even more exited than you are George (even though he lives in Texas). However, I would be derelict if I did not point out that the Wichita State men’s basketball team after making it to the Final Four last year (against all odds) and being just a couple of plays away from being in the final game is now 14-0 for the season and has the best odds of any major college program of having an undefeated regular season (according to Ken Pomeroy who is the statistical guru of major college basketball.

We’ve had some donnybrooks with Tulsa over the years but they have landed on hard times.

KU won’t play us, K-State won’t play us and OU probably wouldn’t either, especially since Oklahoma State is ranked more highly than OU at the moment. We may get to see at least one of them in the NCAA tournament.

That being said: All glory is fleeting.

Glad to see that you have a genuine recreational bent. A little real fun, especially when you win, While not having weighing the weightier matters of the Royal Law as a totally consuming, and perhaps a little over balanced lifestyle.. I am a Ducks fan, I quack.

I am also a Norman-raised Sooner alum. There aren’t a lot of us out there who are also Orthodox. (By the way, there is a fairly new Orthodox congregation in West Norman – hope to worship there the next time I go home.) Christ is Born!

Oklahoma won fair and square… and deserved to do so. Sadly, my Crimson Tide didn’t give you half the fight they should have. Some days… it’s like that…. and the joy you feel, George, is wonderful. Enjoy!!! Trevor Knight played great. The defensive line played great. Alabama… ??? Nick Saban’s had his run for a while. Been ripe for a picking… and been picked twice in a row now… precisely the same way. You guys gave Kirby Smart’s a “time out”. Bob Stoops plain out coached Saban… maybe out recruited him, too. Takes some doin’, and few have done so in a long time. Good job! So for whatever folks said about Oklahoma having a bandaid team…. hey… they played together like they were stuck together with duct tape while my guys seemed to be playing like a bunch of individuals????… thinking they “deserved to win” ’cause of all the hoopla???? Reading their own press releases???? “As if”. Couldn’t believe the broadcasters in the pregame were so dismissive at the beginning… it’s always a bad sign when they seem to be so one-sided.. and just makes you nervous. Sometimes… you just gotta wonder. I mean, nothing better to pump a team up than having “the other guys” coach and quarterback being talked about over and over and over until you’re just sick of it… and no one seems to wonder whether that motivates an underdog. Huh? So Oklahoma just gave my team a whupping… and my team needed it. Seriously. Might shake things up enough to get it back on track. Anyway… it was a good game, a Sooners game thru and thru. Bama had some moments… but not enough of them. Congratulations.

But that’s what I like about college football: Anything can happen. THe players are highly motivated. And it’s fun. Glad you enjoyed it. Feel good about it, the team, the game, the coach. That’s part of the fun. Someone else’s turn… and I’m glad it’s yours. Oklahoma wanted to make a show… and it did.
