I hear you but we are all walking the same path and I hope still open to changing our ways and hoping for redemption and grace…

Welcome to Liberal Bizzaro World…

Please don’t say that we have to go by the book of Genesis in our thinking I love a good pork barbecue way too much .

well the Bishops and Patriarchs speak for me and to me…I am an Orthodox Christian so I need to follow the bishops..

What worries me is the number of prisoners who may have been unjustly convicted. Texas just admitted that they executed an innocent man. I was living in Chicago when the then Gov.Ryan stopped executions. It just makes me uneasy to even imagine that an innocent person could be executed. As Gandhi said “in a world where we go by an eye for an eye we will all be blind” Maybe the subject of capital punishment should be disucssed in the upcoming Great and Holy Council. Of coarse I oppose the death penalty and then I imagine Timothy McVeigh driving by the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and seeing and being fully aware that there was a day care center in the building he was planning to bomb or the grandmother who was taking her grandchildren to California who was on Flight 11 on 9/11.

Breaking: Has a Nominee for the Diocese of the South Been Found?

We will see.. as I said I need to trust the process but someone wants Bishop Mark to be the Bishop of the DOS and I fear its men on the Holy Synod

» Posted By StephenD On May 11, 2012 @ 3:30 pm

Archbishop Dmitri of Most Blessed Memory won the election too but was replaced with Met.Theodosius and we all know how that turned out!! I would love it if the process worked…Maybe I need to trust the system but it is very difficult for me to do so..I’d feel better if the Bishop of Baltimore was in Baltimore instead of swanning around the South.

» Posted By StephenD On May 11, 2012 @ 2:23 pm

I am still hearing from a couple of priests and one Dean in the Diocese of the South that Bishop Mark is still being pushed as the next Archbishop of the Diocese of the South. I pray this is not true.
The original plan was for Father Gerasim to go to Alaska.

» Posted By StephenD On May 11, 2012 @ 6:36 am

I have heard from another Dean of the Diocese of the South that Archbishop Nikon did remove Father Justin..I do not know the reason nor did the Dean. The Holy Synod has been meeting this week..Was this issue discussed there?

Does anyone know why Father Justin Frederick is no longer the Dean of the Dallas Deanery of the Diocese of the South? Is this a consequence for his letter?

Appalachian Deanery
Priest David Arnold, Dean

Dallas Deanery
Archpriest Basil Zebrun, Interim Dean

Carolinas Deanery
Archpriest Thomas Moore, Dean

Growth Numbers by Diocese: A Report to the Metropolitan Council (Spring 2012)

Wonderful news….so is Bishop Mark moving to Baltimore?

» Posted By StephenD On May 1, 2012 @ 11:53 am

Its pretty obvious. The Dioceses of the South and the West are the only two dioceses which showed any growth. The Diocese of Western Pennsylvania declined 21% !!
Now….why would anyone with half a brain want to mess with the Diocese of the South?

More “Corruption” in the Russian Orthodox Church

Very true statement. The Phanar needs America more than America needs the Phanar..

Breaking: More Info on the DOS and Bp Mark

well…welcome to the Antiochian – Self Ruled by Met.Phillip -Archdiocese of North America. if you really want to hear some screaming in the Detroit area ask for an audit of the books in an Antiochian parish.
That is one thing that got Bishop Mark blasted when he was the Bishop of Toledo. I was actually very impressed with him back then. Sad how things turned out for him.I hope he can heal and rise above all this…

» Posted By StephenD On May 2, 2012 @ 9:39 am

Who does the Holy Synod want? Remember what happened to Archbishop Dmitri when he was elected Metropolitan….I do not think this is over

» Posted By StephenD On May 1, 2012 @ 3:05 pm

Thomas…great analogy…I loved that movie.!

» Posted By StephenD On May 1, 2012 @ 12:46 pm

As we cradles say “I hate organized religion thats why I’m Orthodox”..Thank you Sava..

» Posted By StephenD On April 29, 2012 @ 6:11 pm

George…this priest is not in the diocesan administration …I know who you are talking about and he is saying the same thing and actually crowing about it but this priest while not happy has accepted that Bishop Mark will be taking Archbishops Dmitri’s place…as if that could ever happen

» Posted By StephenD On April 28, 2012 @ 1:33 pm

I spoke to an OCA priest from the Diocese of the South this morning and he told be that it is a “done deal” that Bishop Mark is to be the Bishop of the Diocese of the South…This particular priest is upset but also told me that he is pretty sure that it is going to happen..

» Posted By StephenD On April 28, 2012 @ 11:17 am

indeed it does…

» Posted By StephenD On April 27, 2012 @ 5:40 pm

Why would any person who is brand new to a parish in any Church especially an Orthodox Church change anything when they first get there even before the people get to know you? Thats just crazy.Surely they teach that in Seminary! Wouldn’t a mentor tell a new priest not change anything until he is loved by the people? Thats just common sense.

» Posted By StephenD On April 27, 2012 @ 3:30 pm

He sure will need one after this especially if/when Bishop Mark becomes the Bishop of the DOS

» Posted By StephenD On April 27, 2012 @ 2:58 pm

Where is the Accountability and Transparency in the DOS?

My father was episcopalian and was a Mason..when I was a teenager I was put into Demolay which is the Junior Masons…it was so boring…My priest found out and told my mother that if I continued in Demolay that I would be excommunicated so I was promptly pulled out…my father accepted this…I’ve met many Antiochian Orthodox members of the Masons who argued with me when I told them I was foreced out of Demolay becasue I was Orthodox…

» Posted By StephenD On June 15, 2012 @ 7:25 am

I agree….if I were a tithing member of the DOS and one thing that is very strong, thanks to Archbishop Dmitri of Blessed memory in the DOS, is tithing ,I’d be very unhappy that any of my offering would be going to Bishop Mark.. On the other hand there are people who are not happy with only one choice and some are starting to be concerned about Father Gerasim. Some feel he needs to go into more depth about his relationship with HOOM and Fr.Herman, Father Gleb and Bishop Pangriotos..

» Posted By StephenD On June 14, 2012 @ 7:18 am

Is Bishop Mark still getting a salary from the Diocese of the South or has he moved to his See in Baltimore,Maryland?

» Posted By StephenD On June 14, 2012 @ 6:42 am

I’ve heard it too…of coarse we can always bring up the concept of audits and financial accountability in the Antiochian – Self Ruled by Met.Phillip -Archdiocese of North America.or letting a priest marry a second time after ordination..Bishop Mark had lots of problems with the “ethnic” parishes and in Fort.Wayne,Indiana in the Diocese of Toledo. Lets hope this wasn’t one of them

» Posted By StephenD On May 8, 2012 @ 9:30 am

I think it happens if the Muslim is married to an Orthodox Christian…how that could happen with a Crowning I do not understand..I didn’t think Orthodox Christians could marry non-christians. Of coarse things are never very clear in the Antiochian – Self Ruled by Met.Phillip – Archdiocese of America..

» Posted By StephenD On April 30, 2012 @ 5:09 pm

George wrote “And since we’re on the issue of transparancy, how much are we paying him to do nothing but campaign”

I agree with you..a complete waste of money. It is also odd that he is in Miami when he is the Bishop of Baltimore. Met.Jonah should order him to Miami as he is Met.Jonah’s auxillary.

» Posted By StephenD On April 28, 2012 @ 7:28 pm

Bishop Mark also wanted audits and transparency of parish financials…in the Antiochian -Self Ruled by Met.Phillip – Archdiocese of America even mentioning such a thing is the kiss of death…I really liked him then..I lived in Chicago and heard about all the foolishness in Troy..He really seemed to be trying to return the Diocese to an authentic Orthodox Praxis..Don’t forget..the Troy parish is the one that let Jamie Farr..Klinger of Mash fame…sign the Gospel Book when he visited the parish..
