More Evidence that Jonah Was Railroaded

Got text of Small Canon of Supplication to the Theotokos in English?

That’s the $64K question – we don’t know. It may be that the ROCOR investigation may shed light on this. Or not.

This sounds like the best attempt to clear up the muddy water so far.

Right – two different alleged victims. The one in which rape is alleged to have happened is what we don’t know anything about.

No, I never saw him serve. I go to the English services, but didn’t see him serve. I think one time I saw him standing to the side, partly behind the side door, but I’m not too certain that that was him I saw. That might have been near the end of the service I was at. I didn’t really pay too much attention at the time since I didn’t know who he was; I have a good memory for people’s faces but often it takes a while for me to put names to people’s faces because I don’t always catch their names when I meet them for the first time.

Thank you for the update – I very much look forward to it!

You forget that he will be out of the house and without pay come October. He doesn’t even have a pension because of course he was not there long enough.

Excellent summary of our parish. There is one correction – at present there is only one full-time priest – Fr. Valery; there is no money for a second priest.

I too like the older Orthodox tradition. We have a wonderful tradition that has been time-tested, and it would be a shame to throw it out ways that only cause pain and turmoil.

Seriously, do you think +Jonah had time, what with his traveling, meeting with people, taking care of his parents, etc. to create forged documents?

Al and Lefty’s Excellent Adventure

First, you have to change the canon laws to allow the 4-year reelection (and hey, why not 10 years?). And I may not be an intellectual, but don’t canon law stay uniform across all autocephalous and autonomous churches? And in that case, wouldn’t there need to be an majority agreement to allow for such a revision? Tell me again – how many years has it been that people have been preparing for the Great Council, and what is the exact date that this Great Council be held and where (and who’s going to pay for it)?

Good grief.

I know there was a list of bishops and phone numbers posted on this blog, but I just can’t remember who put up this list and in which blogpost. I did use the search feature, but “phone number” results in 5+ pages. George, could you retrieve this and put this up as a page so those of us who wish to have the list can access it easily?

How Truly Awful Multi-Culturalism Is

A friend, who is an Anglophile, and I were talking about the opening ceremony, and we agreed that it started off good with the choir, but it got a lot worse by the middle of the ceremony, with the Industrial Revolution and HHS piece. We just couldn’t figure out what this was all about. I also pointed out to my husband that that brown-skinned guy all suited up as if he was a rich industrialist was an anomaly because as far as I can tell, there weren’t that many black people who were rich enough to be at that level. Oh, sure, some of the industrialists may have been descended from that Roman soldier from the farthest south reach of the Roman Empire or that servant who moved to that part of London in the 16th century. But still . . .

From Russia, Not with Love

I would like to know the answer to your question as well.

Book Review: The Second Russian Revolution (1987-1991)

For some levity, watch Putin’s reaction at the end of the video. He, at least, is aware of what is appropriate and not appropriate . . .

The Keystone Kops Swing into Action

I don’t know. But here’s the gallery: http://oca.org/media/photos/beauty-in-syosset

And if you go to http://www.zillow.com and plug in the zip code 11791, you’ll see that homes range from as low as $499K to as high as $2.9M, or more. That’ll give you an idea of the property costs in that area.

And as for your idea, that’s exactly what my husband, who isn’t Orthodox, has been saying for a long time, but since nobody’s picking up this ball and running with it . . .

Looks like you got it. Unless the canonical mess is resolved, somehow. In which case we can then start thinking about emulating Moscow, Athens, and Belgrade . . .

Thank you. Can’t add more to this.

This is why I just don’t understand why they wanted him to go through mental therapy for six months. I’ll have to get in line behind others who are asking the same question as well.

I wasn’t at Bethesda, but my friend who went there told me that +Jonah wasn’t there.

Yes, hiding one’s head in the sand is not going to make the whole problem away when ingredients still exist for making this happen again. Fix the ingredients so these are neutralized!

To his spiritual father, I would guess.

I agree . . . we really need a timeline to help get the story straight. I keep getting confused about the dates, especially when it turns out there were two separate cases (or one single case)? Been thinking about going through the comments and writing out the date and incident/action/whatever on recycled paper scraps and putting these in order . . .

Why Would They Do This?

Let’s assume +Jonah became a monk when his father was still working, had a business, retirement savings, whatever.

We all know real estate took a nose dive, and people do get sick enough that the savings just run out. So, I can see as to how options may have run out, thus leaving their son as a last resort, since it sounds like his sister is unable to step in. Please think this through for a bit, folks.

Another Hole in the Official Story: ‘Alleged Rape’ Timeline Reporting is Wrong

where did this information come from? And do we know what are the professions of the non-clergy individuals on the list?

» Posted By Lola J. Lee Beno On July 29, 2012 @ 4:49 pm

And if said individual undergoing a similar treatment regime verbally told someone else, say, an acquaintance or co-worker, what he or she was going through and why he wouldn’t be able to attend something on so-and-so date, hypothetically? Your comment doesn’t apply – it only applies to cases where a medical care professional is the source of information.
