Text Messages Reveal Extent of Bp. Matthias’ Misbehavior

I would have to agree with you on this.

Still, shouldn’t one be smart enough to realize the path such communication may be headed towards?

OCA Investigation Petition

This is an unofficial FAN page that was set up by one of his supporters, and is not necessarily endorsed by Met. Jonah, I should hasten to point out.

Breaking News: Another Lawsuit?

I was wondering whether it was St. Vladimir’s Seminary. I vaguely recall a change in the deanery there recently, but I could be wrong. Other than St. Tikhon and St. Vlaimir’s Seminary, the only other seminary I can think of is St. Herman in Alaska, but it can’t be this one . . .

How Not to Win Friends and Influence People

These days, you can often gauge the health of a parish by how many and which ages of children and young adults are there.

You are so absolutely right about that. It was interesting to see that playing out right in front of me.

I agree . . . this is extremely disturbing. That forms an echo chamber which will stagnate growth.

Well, I’m clueless as to who Parma may be. But I think I have seen some clues in the writing style as to who this person may be, and I hope my hunch is correct.

What Will it Come to at the Parma Robber Council?

I certainly haven’t gotten any email from the Announce list about this.

Since Bp. Tikhon includes his last name to distinguish himself, he’s easy enough to find on Facebook simply by searching for his name. You can then send him a friend request, after which it is up to him to accept it or not.

Are there going to be delegates coming in from Alaska? Do they have the funds to do so?

And by the way, I just love that cover photo! I’ve been blessed to be around people with Downs Syndrome and its amazing just how generous their love can be.

You should also consider the possibility that maybe it is his Senior Hierarchs are the ones who may be in the wrong in this case.

What’s Up with All this “Prophet” Stuff?

Or, tormented because one was not sure that one had been saved enough so it was back to the Altar Call over, and over again. It was painful to watch in my Protestant days as that happened to my friend.

English subtitles? Great! I’ll be posting this to my FB group as well (for those who are deaf/hoh).

In Memoriam: Archbishop Dmitri by Priest Justin Frederick

Antonia, Helga is quite right about photographs taken in public places. Churches are public places that generally are open to anybody and everybody. There are photos taken at St. Nicholas in which I show up, and some of these catch me at moments where I may not look very polished, but I can’t do anything about that.

If, however, it was a picture in a private house, in a closed event and the picture was posted without me knowing, then I would have more of a cause to complain to the person posting my picture.

A Tale of Two Women

As for the abominable treatment, Ron Paul has only himself to blame for. And his followers – the behavior of some of them is a major reason why Ron Paul will be about as relevant as Lyndon LaRouche, despite the facts that he has good ideas about resolving our economic problems.

Maybe George M. needs a break from time to time, its his prerogative. I feel privileged to be allowed to comment here just as if I were in his home, so I can read, or not read, any posts.

Yeah … What you said.

Gotta Give Credit Where Credit is Due

A man who went on to graduate school in theology, was a choir director, founded a monastery and established three or four mission parishes is unfit? Surely you jest!

Memo to Syosset: Retired or Not Retired? That is the Question

May I suggest a reasonable solution – George M. can create a page to display these cartoons, and put a link to that right in the header above, and anyone who likes to look at these cartoons can go directly to the page. Others who don’t don’t have to click on that link.

There . . . everybody happy?

Yes, it is. I should know as I upgraded my MBP to Mountain Lion a while ago and I have Adobe Reader installed. I was able to read the docs George M. posted just fine.

The fact that one sees Met. Jonah in pictures standing on Met. Hilarion (Alfeyev)’s side from the Fr. Hood celebration and is invited like such for tomorrow speaks for itself.

An Open Letter to the Orthodox Church in America

In light of this thread, it seems that the last person who spoke an English dialect using “thee” and “thou” has recently died.

Thank you! I was named after my mother’s friend, who was murdered by the doctor she’d been having an affair with (she was a nurse). From what I was told, that case was never really given high priority since it was in the South, in Georgia, and cases involving black people were not given high priority.

Of course, times have changed, although there are still too many cases of black women who have been murdered or disappeared going unsolved . . .

The best candidates are those who run away screaming “I am unworthy”. Because then we are more sure that they don’t have a personal agenda to push.

Does anyone know what this is all about?

Phone and e-mail scam alert
SYOSSET, NY [OCA]
It has come to the attention of the Chancery of the Orthodox Church in America that individuals, including some OCA clergy, have been receiving e-mails and telephone calls from an unknown individual or individuals presenting themselves as members of the Holy Synod of Bishops requesting emergency funds for various causes and asking that funds be directed to specified venues.

These appeals are scams and should not be honored. None of the members of the Holy Synod are soliciting funds by e-mail or phone.

Those receiving such calls or e-mails, or desiring additional information, are invited to contact Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, OCA Secretary, at 516-922-0550 or egtosi@oca.org.

You should read the account of his meeting with the Russian Patriarch (Alexei, was it not?) – it is a very poignant one.

And I look forward to meeting you!
