Just out of curiosity, how would you label women who are not in monogamously-committed relationships, and think nothing of going out to bars for a fling with someone who is willing to buy them a drink, only to move on to someone else who is even more flashier due to having a nice car and wads of green paper?
And while we’re being equal opportunists, how would you label guys who are commitment-phobic, string along unsuspecting women just long enough sleep over for a night or two, and then proceed to not answer desperate phone calls, only to move on to the next woman who is foolish enough to believe all his promises?
And, how many politicians think getting a vote from them is worth pursuing?

Rahm Emanuel, Chicago, and “Ethnic Cleansing”
Now they are demanding that Jonah leave the house HE rents in DC. The OCA isn’t paying for it, what makes them think they can demand such a thing? THey have given him no assignment so he can live wherever his wants.
Is it because the house is right next to St. Nicholas? Last I heard, that is private property and does NOT belong to the church. Heck, the opportunity to buy TWO private houses right next to the annex was turned down. This is ridiculous.

Knitting can be very, very relaxing. So can be spinning. Unless when you’re trying to put the drive band back on a 30″ spinning wheel with two grooves in double-drive mode. There is exactly one way the drive band band (that has been twisted in a figure-8) can be put back on and not have it slip again – the crossover must be on the top in such a way that the strands do not rub against each other, and the strands must be in the 2 grooves all around the wheel without any crossovers. Somehow, that seems to be a good metaphor as to what is going on with the OCA situation.

I Say, “Have You Lost Some Weight Lately? There’s Something Different about You.”
I’m going to be taking gun safety classes with my husband, just so I know how to handle one properly if I have to. I have no problem if a woman wants to arm herself with a weapon. Its only so much a woman can do to fight off a male assailant who is able to overpower her physically.
That said, its likely not a good idea to a gun in church. Unless someone with an issue walks in armed (and that person likely is not respecting the fact that this is a GUN-FREE zone [and it sure is interesting how so many shootings seem to happen in such zones . . . why didn't the shooter respect the fact that these zones are GUN-FREE???]).

Those who were involved in the civil rights movement in the South made sure to have ARMED protection. Especially when faced with visits in the night from certain white-sheeted folks. Imagine what would have happened had gun control been in effect back then.

This is what I just don’t get . . . why put a guy who was in the midst of a financial scandal in another position where money passed through his hands on a regular basis? That’s like putting someone who may or may not be an alcoholic in charge as the manager of a liquor store.

I’m sorry, but if OCA is not viewed as legitimate outside of MP and ROCOR by the other Orthodox churches, then how can this be viewed as meddling if ROCOR and/or MP decides to step in on their own?
Lets face it . . . if OCA’s autocephaly is not being properly respected by the other Orthodox churches, then, does one really expect them to speak up if something is done that directly affects OCA alone?

Carl, has it ever occurred to you that, maybe, just maybe, it is podvig for Met. Jonah to make sure his parents, who are likely still very much grieved over the past several year’s events and having lost one of their offspring (lets face it . . . parents expect to die BEFORE their children die) are properly cared for in their last years, and if that means reming in the local area, so be it.

Carl, this is one of the situation where the answer is either “yes” or “no”; or, “1″ or “0″; or, “true” or “false”. Either a bishop is active or retired; there is no in-between. The only condition that negates these status is “deceased”.
Yes, Carl, do please ask the Synod exactly what is going on. Lot of us would love to know the answer.
